Caring for our brains is important if we want to be able to show up for ourselves and others. As parents and coaches, we can only give our best when our brains have the proper foundation to engage and respond to the environment. Taking care of your brain can seem difficult and may require a lifestyle shift, but the results are worth it; by adjusting your daily habits to support strong mental health, you can live more fully the gift you are meant to be for the world around you. You are worth the investment!
The image below offers six tips for better self-care. We encourage you to download the PDF and commit to daily practices that fit each of these areas. From getting the sleep your body needs to developing a practice of gratitude, each of these steps will promote stronger mental health, so that you can live your best life and be present for the young athlete(s) who need your support. Better yet, you can provide a positive example for those young athletes and encourage them to develop healthy mental habits as well. Doing so will help each of you "up your game" in parenting, sports and the rest of life.
