Cultivating Resilience
Among the myriad of benefits sports provide our children, the opportunity to build resilience may be one of most important outcomes as we prepare them to face the challenges of the modern world. By providing young athletes with unique situations that allow them to test their abillities and learn from failure, we create an ideal platform to develop this crucial skill. The controlled stress of sports can strengthen resilience and setup children for success throughout their lives.

Dr. Zelechowski is a Professor of Psychology and Founding Director of Clinical Training at Purdue University Northwest. An expert in trauma, she's also the co-founder of Pandemic Parenting, a nonprofit started in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. As you might expect, the pandemic has created an even greater need to build resilience. In this video, Zelechoski discusses the importance of resilience and provides 5 strategies for building this skill in young athletes (and parents!). Listen to what she has to say, then choose at least one of these strategies and make that a focus this spring.
Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." ~ Joshua 1:9

A Prayer for Parents
This week marks the holiest week of the year for Christians across the world. As we recall Christ's passion, death and ultimately his resurrection on Easter Sunday, let us pray for the grace to imitate his unending love for those he has entrusted to our care.
Jesus, in these last few days leading up to Easter, as I recall your passion and death, let me remember that, above all, I am called to feed your sheep. You have given me a model of how to live; may I strive to be all that you created me for, spreading the love of God and the truth of our faith wherever I am able. You are the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
