FROM THE DESK OF OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
A Letter to Our Volunteers: Thank You!
|
|
As Pop Warner teams around the country prepare to start play for our 94th season I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to the thousands of people who devote their time and energy to ensure our young people have the opportunity to be kids and participate in sports they love.
We all lead busy lives these days, between work and family and a thousand activities jamming our schedules. Supporting Pop Warner at the grassroots level is no small task. It’s often coaching many hours in the hot sun in some parts of the country and frigid, dark evenings in other parts. Volunteering in a snack shack, organizing team events and handing out uniforms. It’s judging cheer and dance competitions and working the chains on the sideline of a football game. Board meetings and team dinners. It may sometimes feel thankless. Please know it isn’t . National Championship Enhancements
|
|
There are some exciting changes to its National Championship experience beginning this December. This year, Pop Warner and its partners are building off of last year’s event to improve a number of elements of the overall experience, including:
-
New Lodging & Entertainment: Every team traveling to Orlando for the championships will stay at Universal Orlando hotels plus the DoubleTree Hotel near the entrance to Universal Orlando.
-
Premier Attractions & Advanced Ticketing: Tickets will be mailed in advance to all three Universal Orlando theme parks, including Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Volcano Bay and Universal’s Islands of Adventure – named the #1 Amusement Park in the World for five years in a row by TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice – and home to some of the most thrilling and extreme coasters ever created.
-
Stress-free Reservations & Transportation: Our partners have added a seamless, enhanced booking process for hotels and transportation this year, with impeccable communications and customer support. FCS staff will be on-site at numerous regional championships to facilitate hotel booking information quicker and directly to Universal Orlando partners.
-
Exclusive Party: The all-inclusive after-hours event will take place Tuesday night inside Universal Studios Florida exclusively for Pop Warner athletes and their families. Competition hours the day after the party at both venues will start later so that all participants have the opportunity to attend.
-
Athlete & Volunteer Gifts: Participants and volunteers will receive exciting new gifts starting in 2022.
-
Football Field Renovations: Select field locations will be renovated for National Championship play and a five-year field capacity and resod plan will be implemented starting in 2022.
-
Improved Fan Zone and Food Trucks: Camping World Stadium will include a wider variety of food truck options as well as fun and games.
-
New Cheer & Dance Divisions: Bantam, Tiny Mite and Open divisions will compete at National Championships.
-
Enhanced Venue Design: All cheer spaces, including practices, warmups, competition, merchandise, photography, concessions and awards, will be located on the same floor with upgrades to seating, music and EMCEE.
-
Extra Cheer & Dance Competition Day: With new divisions and more qualified teams attending in 2022, Cheer & Dance will have an added full day of competition.

SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN
The Game Day Experience
|
|
Pop Warner game days are finally upon us, and 2022 is the year we’re elevating “The Game Day Experience” where communities come together around both football and cheer. We’re celebrating with a season-long social media campaign that will highlight the best moments of your football and cheer teams together on game day.
Here’s how to participate!
- Capture photos or videos of your football and cheer teams together on game day, each doing what they love. If your team scores a TD and the cheerleaders and crowd go wild, snap a pic! If your cheer team pumps up the football players as they storm the field, take a video. We want to see it all!
-
Post to your personal social media account or your association or league’s social media account, tagging Pop Warner and using #PopWarner.
- We’ll highlight some of the top ones on the Pop Warner national social media channels for all to see. Plus, we’ll feature them in the Pop Warner newsletter each month!

COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD
This Year's Board Will Focus on Leagues
|
|
One of the key takeaways from the inaugural Community Advisory Board was the need to be better resourced to recruit and grow Pop Warner. So, during year two we've decided to focus on a highly actionable initiative that will convene an advisory board of league presidents to primarily discuss how we can help leagues add new associations, as well as hear their perspective on associations' efforts to attract members.
