TRAFFIC IMPACTS:  

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends, and access to residential and business driveways will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the work zone.

Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) will continue to be closed for four more weeks. The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional information regarding the work at Lakeside Avenue, click here.

Traffic will be shifted, and lanes will be narrowed on Pine Street near its intersection with Lakeside Avenue on Wednesday, July 26, between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to facilitate waterline work at the intersection. There is the potential for a single-lane closure on Pine Street to facilitate this work. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained along Pine Street each day between the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

There is the potential for Flynn Avenue to be intermittently reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic between Foster Street and just west of the railroad crossing to facilitate fine grading and paving operations.



There is the potential for Home Avenue to be intermittently reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic between Foster Street and Queen City Park Road to facilitate grading of the sidewalk and shared-use path. 

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews will continue excavating along Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) to facilitate the installation of underground utilities (waterline, electrical vaults, conduit, duct bank, and stormwater infrastructure) and the reconstruction of the roadway. This work will be completed under the full closure of Lakeside Avenue within the project limits.

On Wednesday, July 26, between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., crews will be completing waterline work at the intersection of Pine Street and Lakeside Avenue. This work will be completed under traffic shifts with the potential for a single closure. There are no water service interruptions anticipated as part of this work.

There is the potential for fine grading and paving activities along Flynn Avenue between Foster Street and just west of the railroad crossing. This work will be completed under intermittent single-lane closures.

There is the potential for crews to grade the sidewalk and sections of shared-use path along Home Avenue. This work may require single-lane closures.

Traffic signal equipment will be installed on Sears Lane at its intersection with the Champlain Parkway. This work will require minimal impacts to traffic.

Crews will complete additional work outside of the roadway throughout the project area. Crews will continue installing conduit and junction boxes along the Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and Lakeside Avenue.

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.
