CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Pine Street (north) - Main Street to Kilburn Street:

Early next week, crews will be prepping for paving the final wearing course along Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street. Crews will be completing miscellaneous items, including base paving all tie in points and the location of a recent waterline repair near Main Street. Final paving activities are anticipated to begin midweek on Wednesday, October 15. Final paving will be completed in sections with the sequencing and anticipated schedule below.

On Wednesday, October 15, crews anticipate paving the section of Pine Street between just north of Kilburn Street through the intersection with Maple Street to its northern edge and portions of Maple Street itself. On Thursday, October 16, crews anticipate paving the section of Pine Street between just north of Maple Street through the intersection with King Street to its northern edge and portions of King Street. On Friday, October 17, crews plan to pave the section of Pine Street between just north of King Street through the intersection with Main Street and portions of Main Street. This work is highly dependent on weather and other variables and is subject to change. This work is likely to continue into the following week. This work will cause major impacts to traffic and travelers should seek alternative routes whenever possible. During active paving, segments will be restricted to local traffic only and traffic holds will be used as freshly laid asphalt cools. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained, but travelers should expect delays and seek alternative routes when possible.

In addition, crews will be installing permanent roadway signage along Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street throughout the week. This will require shoulder and parking lane closures.

Thru traffic seeking to travel along Pine Street will be directed to St. Paul Street via Kilburn Street (northbound) and College Street (southbound).

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection:

In addition to paving and sign installation, crews will install the remaining traffic signal equipment and infrastructure and the sidewalk on the northwest corner early next week. This work may require lane restrictions, but vehicular access will be maintained. Flaggers will be present. Pedestrian access restrictions will be in place on the northwest corner, but pedestrian access will be maintained.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection:

In addition to paving and sign installation, crews will be installing the remaining sidewalk on the southeast corner on Monday. This work may require lane restrictions, but vehicular access will be maintained. Flaggers will be present. Pedestrian access restrictions will be in place on the southeast corner, but pedestrian access will be maintained.

Maple Street at Pine Street Intersection:

In addition to paving and sign installation, crews will be installing the remaining traffic signal equipment and infrastructure and the sidewalk on the corners. This work may require lane restrictions, but vehicular access will be maintained. Flaggers will be present. Pedestrian access restrictions will be in place, but pedestrian access will be maintained.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:

Next week, crews will be forming and pouring concrete sidewalk along the east side of Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street. Crews will also form and pour the detectable handicap ramps for the mid-block crossing. Sidewalk work will take place on Monday, 10/6. Crews will also be grading and paving driveway aprons once the concrete sidewalks are cured on Wednesday, 10/8. This work will require Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street to be restricted to northbound traffic only along this segment while southbound traffic will only be permitted between the Soda Plant and Kilburn Street. Throughout the week, pedestrians will be detoured to the east side of Pine Street. Businesses will remain open and residences will remain accessible. Directly impacted business owners have been informed.

Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:

Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. Crews will continue landscaping activities within the median barrier. Early next week, granite curb is anticipated to be installed along segments of the Parkway. Starting midweek, crews will perform milling in preparation for base paving along the median barriers and in areas where drainage work took place. The public is reminded that this segment of the Champlain Parkway is NOT open to public access or travel of any kind.

TRAVEL NOTICE:

The segment of the Champlain Parkway between Interstate 189 and Home Avenue is not completed and is not open for public access. Active construction continues along this segment which includes the movement and transport of construction vehicles, equipment, and materials. All other access (vehicular, pedestrian, or bicycle) is strictly prohibited.
