CHAMPLAIN PARKWAY REMAINS AN ACTIVE WORKZONE

| | The section of the Champlain Parkway between I-189 and Home Avenue continues to be an active work zone as crews work to complete the remaining work prior to its full opening the evening of 6/29. As this section of roadway begins to take shape, we remind you that vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle access is strictly prohibited. Additionally, this segment of the Champlain Parkway, once open, will be a limited access roadway and only accessible by vehicle. | | |
Nighttime construction activities will take place starting at 7 PM on Friday, June 26, through 6 AM on Saturday, June 27, and at 7 PM on Sunday, June 28, through Monday, June 29, at 7 AM.
Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, daytime construction activities will take place between 7 AM and 7 PM, Monday morning through Thursday at noon. Overnight construction activities will take place between 7 PM and 6 AM, Monday night through Thursday morning. All work is weather and temperature dependent.
Crews will be offsite starting Thursday, July 2, at noon, and won’t return until Monday, July 6, in observance of Independence Day (Fourth of July). Minor construction activities will resume on Monday, July 6.

Friday, June 26, through Monday, June 29:
Intersections of the Champlain Parkway at Flynn Avenue, Sears Lane, and Lakeside Avenue, and Lakeside Avenue at Pine Street: On Friday, the traffic signal timing and phasing will be updated to accommodate the opening of the remaining segment of the Champlain Parkway between Home Avenue and I-189. Traffic signals will now prioritize the Champlain Parkway, providing additional green time and reducing green time to the side streets. These timings are intended to accommodate the increase in through traffic along the Parkway when it opens. Please be patient as traffic patterns and volumes adjust.
Route 7 from just south of Queen City Park Road to just north of the I-189 Westbound Off-Ramp: At night, starting Friday at 7 PM through Saturday at 6 AM and Sunday 7 PM through Monday 6 AM, crews will finish installing pavement markings and line striping in this area. This work will require lane closures and traffic shifts.
Home Avenue, Pine Street, Flynn Avenue, Oak Beach Drive, Ledgewood Circle, and Austin Drive: At night from 7 PM on Sunday, June 28, through Monday, June 29, at 6 AM, crews will install temporary detour signage throughout the area. This work will require minor traffic impacts.
Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2:
Champlain Parkway (Home Avenue to Flynn Avenue) and Home Avenue (Austin Drive to Foster Street): The opening event will require the temporary closure of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Flynn Avenue and Home Avenue from Foster Street to Austin Drive on Monday, June 29, between 9 AM - 12 PM. Home Avenue between Pine Street and Foster Street will be reduced to local traffic only. Traffic will be detoured via Austin Drive, Ledgewood Circle, Oak Beach Drive, and Flynn Avenue.
| | Click the image to enlarge. | | Champlain Parkway – I-189 to Home Avenue: On Monday, June 29, around noon, the outbound direction of the Champlain Parkway (southbound) from Home Avenue to I-189 eastbound and the off-ramp from the Champlain Parkway to Queen City Park Road will be opened to the traveling public. The inbound direction of the Champlain Parkway (northbound) from I-189 westbound to Home Avenue and the on-ramps from Route 7 north and south to the Parkway will remain closed until the evening of Monday, June 29. The opening of the inbound direction of the Champlain Parkway will require single lane closures along I-189 westbound between the Spear Street and Farrell Street overpasses to allow crews to remove bags on the overhead signs. Intersections of Battery Street at Maple Street and King Street: The line striping and pavement markings subcontractor is anticipated to install Do Not Block the intersection markings in the intersections of Battery Street and Maple Street and Battery Street and King Street. This work is anticipated to take place under lane closures controlled by flaggers likely at night. Traffic will be maintained in all directions. This work is dependent on weather.
Locust Street just east of Pine Street: The line striping and pavement markings subcontractor is anticipated to install Do Not Block the driveway markings on Locust Street at the first driveway just east of Pine Street. This work is anticipated to take place next week under lane closures controlled by flaggers. Traffic will be maintained in all directions. This work is dependent on weather.
Throughout the Project Limits: Crews will install the remaining post mounted signs throughout the project limits along I-189, Route 7, the Champlain Parkway, Battery Street, Pine Street, and some intersecting side streets, including Maple Street and Main Street. This work will take place primarily outside of the roadway under shoulder and parking lane closures.

Sidewalk/Surface work
- Main St: The Flynn - Church St brick paver work instillation.
- Church St: Main - The Flynn loading dock, sidewalk prep continues.
- Various sections of sidewalk are being replaced throughout the project due to premature wear.
- Landscaping, public art installation prep, and other surface features throughout the project.
Pedestrian access is maintained unless otherwise noted.
There will be no construction on Friday 7/3. Parking and all vehicle access will be available.
