Construction Update

DURATION:

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Pine Street (north) Main Street to Kilburn Street:

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection:

Work continues on the reconstruction of the intersection at Pine Street and Main Street. Crews will work to remove the remaining traffic signal and streetlighting bases on the corners, predominantly off the roadway. The intersection will reopen to vehicular traffic by 7 p.m. Friday, June 6. Pine Street between Main Street and King Street will reopen to vehicular traffic.

There is the potential for curb installation to take place mid-to-late next week. This work will take approximately one to two days and will require the intersection to fully close as the curb work is completed. Pine Street between Main Street and King Street will be restricted to local traffic only during the closure and be accessible via King Street only. A supplemental Traffic Alert will be issued prior to the closure.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection:

Independent utility companies will be working to relocate aerial electrical utilities at the intersection of King Street and Pine Street. This work will be completed under lane closures with alternating one-way traffic and parking restrictions.

Pine Street – King Street to Maple Street:

Crews will continue working to remove existing sidewalk and curb along both sides of Pine Street between King Street and Maple Street under intermittent lane closures with alternating one-way traffic. This work is anticipated to continue through mid-week. During this time, Pine Street between King Street and Maple Street will be restricted to local access only. Thru traffic will be detoured at Maple or King Streets. Pedestrians will be detoured to the open side of the roadway. Sections of the temporary pedestrian travel ways will be gravel, please exercise caution. Sidewalk and curb removal and gravel establishment across residential and business driveways will require short temporary driveway closures of approximately 15 minutes. Impacted properties will be notified directly in advance.

Maple Street at Pine Street Intersection:

Independent utility companies will be working to relocate aerial electrical utilities at the intersection of Maple Street and Pine Street. This work will be completed under lane closures with alternating one-way traffic and parking restrictions.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:

Starting mid-week, crews will begin to remove existing sidewalk and curb along the west side of Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street under lane closures with traffic shifts. During this time, on-street parking along this segment will be temporarily closed. Pine Street between King Street and Maple Street will be restricted to local access only. Thru truck traffic will be detoured at Kilburn Street to St. Paul Street. Businesses will remain open and accessible along Pine Street.

Pine Street at Howard Street:

S.D. Ireland has completed the installation of the concrete pads and have erected the bus shelters just south of the intersection of Pine Street at Howard Street. Crews will continue working in the area to install the pedestrian connections to the shelters and restore the surrounding greenscape. This work is part of the initial contract which was postponed due to manufacturing delays. These activities will be completed predominantly outside of the roadway with instances of lane closures with alternating one-way traffic.

Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:

Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. Crews will continue grading the roadway surface in preparation for future paving activities. These activities will take place off the roadway with limited impact on traffic.

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street.
