Construction Update

Champlain Parkway Project

DATE: Wednesday, November 23, 2022

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Crews will be off the roadway starting Wednesday, November 23, at noon, and will be offsite by 7:00 p.m. in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Crews will return Monday, November 28, at 7:00 a.m.

The closure of Home Avenue to facilitate the water line and service work has been postponed until next construction season.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, DURATION, AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Please note, all work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. All roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends. Access to residential and business driveways will be maintained throughout the work unless alerted otherwise. Businesses will remain open!

Next week, crews will prepare some existing roadways for paving and begin paving operations in limited sections of the project area.

Early next week, crews will complete the final water tie-in along Flynn Avenue. No water service disruptions are anticipated as part of this work.

Throughout the week, crews will work to fine-grade Briggs Street and Flynn Avenue in preparation for temporary pavement later in the week. In addition, crews will be installing temporary pavement to sidestreets including Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, Morse Place, and Batchelder Street and on Home Avenue between Foster and Batchelder Streets. All paving operations and preparatory work will be completed under single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic. Paving operations are weather dependent.

Once temporary pavement has been installed on Batchelder Street, Morse Street, and Briggs Avenue, traffic will transition from the temporary gravel roadway onto the existing roadway alignments.

Utility work will continue between Flynn and Home Avenues over the next several weeks. Crews will continue water testing and service installations throughout the area working south. In addition, crews will continue installing stormwater infrastructure.

Crews will continue working on the installation of the Englesby Brook box culvert. This work will be completed off the roadway.

Sears Lane will continue to be closed to thru traffic west of Kaigle’s Service Center. Emergency vehicle access will remain. The pedestrian crossing between Sears Lane and Harrison Avenue will remain open. Vehicle access to the HULA Lakeside Offsite Parking Lot (HULA parking lot) will now be from Lakeside Avenue only.
