CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Pine Street (north) - Main Street to Kilburn Street:

In preparation for wearing course paving scheduled for mid-October, crews will be adjusting stormwater and drainage structures along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street to final grade. In addition, crews may begin installing final roadway signage along this segment. This work may require short instances of travel or parking lane closures. Traffic may be shifted or reduced to one-way alternating.

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection:

Crews will install pullboxes and manholes at the intersection throughout the week. In addition, crews may install sections of concrete sidewalk on the northwest and southwest corners of the intersection of Main Street at Pine Street as time allows. This work may require lane restrictions, but vehicular access will be maintained. Flaggers will be present. Pedestrian access restrictions will be in place on the northwest corner, but pedestrian access will be maintained.

Maple Street at Pine Street Intersection:

Crews will continue working to complete the brick paver crosswalks at the intersection of Maple Street at Pine Street. The crosswalks across Pine Street (north and south) have been completed and these legs will reopen on today, Friday, 10/3. The crosswalk across Maple Street (west) has been completed but needs to cure and this leg will be reopened on the morning of Monday, 10/6. Crews will complete the installation of the crosswalk across Maple Street (east) on Monday, 10/6, and Tuesday, 10/7, and reopen this leg by the end of the day. These closures will be in place 24 hours a day. During these closures, Maple Street (west) will be accessible via S. Champlain Street and Maple Street (east) will be accessible via St. Paul Street. Crews will be installing concrete sidewalk at the intersection. This work will require lane closures on Pine Street (north) and Maple Street. Throughout the week, traffic will not be able to continue south along Pine Street from the Maple Street intersection.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:

Next week, crews will be forming and pouring concrete sidewalk along the east side of Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street. Crews will also form and pour the detectable handicap ramps for the mid-block crossing. Sidewalk work will take place on Monday, 10/6. Crews will also be grading and paving driveway aprons once the concrete sidewalks are cured on Wednesday, 10/8. This work will require Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street to be restricted to northbound traffic only along this segment while southbound traffic will only be permitted between the Soda Plant and Kilburn Street. Throughout the week, pedestrians will be detoured to the east side of Pine Street. Businesses will remain open and residences will remain accessible. Directly impacted business owners have been informed.

Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:

Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. Crews will prep for infill paving along the median barrier and curb in the coming weeks. In addition, crews will continue topsoiling, seeding, and mulching. The public is reminded that this segment of the Champlain Parkway is NOT open to public access or travel of any kind.

TRAVEL NOTICE:

The segment of the Champlain Parkway between Interstate 189 and Home Avenue is not completed and is not open for public access. Active construction continues along this segment which includes the movement and transport of construction vehicles, equipment, and materials. All other access (vehicular, pedestrian, or bicycle) is strictly prohibited.
