TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, all roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends, and access to residential and business driveways will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the work zone.
The section of Home Avenue just west of Foster Street and just east of Queen City Park Road will continue to be closed. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is anticipated to reopen by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30. The vehicular detour route will remain in place utilizing Pine Street and Queen City Park Road. Pedestrian access at the Home Avenue railroad crossing will remain closed through mid-June. The pedestrian detour route will remain in place utilizing the section of the Burlington Greenway (existing shared-use path) between Home Avenue and Queen City Park Road, Queen City Park Road, and Austin Drive. Throughout the week, Flynn Avenue will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic between Briggs Street and the railroad crossing to facilitate roadway reconstruction.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Crews will continue working on Home Avenue between Foster Street and Queen City Park Road under a full closure. Crews will complete the remaining underground utility work and prepare the roadway for paving. The Home Avenue closure will reopen by Friday, June 30, at 7:00 p.m.
Crews will begin reconstructing Flynn Avenue between Briggs Street and the railroad crossing. Crews will excavate sections of Flynn Avenue for reconstruction under single lane closures. Motorists should expect a gravel surface along portions of Flynn Avenue throughout the week. This may require short driveway closures along Flynn Avenue. Alternative access to businesses will be provided as needed.
Work continues constructing the cul-de-sacs at the west end of Ferguson and Lyman Avenues next week. Early next week, crews will be installing curb along the cul-de-sac at Ferguson Avenue before moving to Lyman Avenue mid-week. This work may require short driveway closures on Ferguson and Lyman Avenues. Impacted property owners and residents will be notified by a member of the Project Team.
Crews will continue performing exploratory excavation along Lakeside Avenue and Pine Street to identify and confirm the locations of existing underground utilities to facilitate the installation of underground utilities. This work will be completed under single-lane closures with one-way alternating traffic.
Crews will be removing the abandoned railroad spurs along Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Electric Avenue. The railroad spurs are along the west side of Pine Street between Electric Avenue and Howard Street and the east side between Electric Avenue and Kilburn Street. This work will be completed under single-lane closures with one-way alternating traffic. This work will require short impacts to driveways along Pine Street. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained. Impacted property owners and residents will be notified by a member of the Project Team.
Crews will complete additional work outside of the roadway throughout the project area. Along the Parkway alignment, crews will continue installing topsoil, curb, and junction boxes between Home Avenue and Lakeside Avenue.
East Coast Signals will be onsite installing traffic signal bases at the intersection of the Parkway alignment at Sears Lane and at Lakeside Avenue. This work will take place outside of the roadway with limited interruptions to traffic.
