Crews remain off-site in observance of the New Year holiday. Crews will resume limited construction activities on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Traffic impact highlights for the Main Street – Great Streets Project for Monday, January 5, through Friday, January 9, are listed below:

  • The Main St. corridor is open for the winter to through-traffic.
  • While some pedestrian detours may be in place, pedestrian access is maintained throughout the entire project area unless otherwise noted.
  • SDI will continue with a limited number of minimal impact activities, such as sign and signal work. This work may at times require parking lanes or temporary traffic shifts, but through-traffic will be maintained at all times. Parking is otherwise available throughout the corridor.

Adjacent Project Impact:

  • S. Winooski Avenue: Main Street - King Street: Unrelated project work from a private developer will limit travel to southbound traffic only. This pattern will be in place until further notice.

DURATION:

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM, Monday through Friday.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Pine Street (north) - Main Street to Kilburn Street:

Crews will continue traffic signal installation work along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street. This work will occur outside of the roadway. Flaggers may be utilized to assist motorists at intersections where sightlines are impacted.

The segment of the Champlain Parkway between Interstate 189 and Home Avenue is not completed and is not open for public access. Active construction continues along this segment, which includes the movement and transport of construction vehicles, equipment, and materials. All other access (vehicular, pedestrian, or bicycle) is strictly prohibited.

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract, conditionally accepted in December 2024, included the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.



The final contract, which broke ground in January 2025, includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from existing I-189 near its intersection with U.S. Route 7 to Home Avenue and the section of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street.
