CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Work will continue along Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) to facilitate the remaining roadway reconstruction work. There is the potential that crews will need to pave a remaining section of Lakeside Avenue at the western end of the project limits near the Innovation Center on Tuesday, September 5. Paving operations are subject to weather and subcontractor availability. This work will be completed under single lane closure.
Crews will continue constructing the shared-use path and prepping for the installation of curb along the west side of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Lakeside Avenue. Crews will begin at Kilburn Street and continue south. This work will require the excavation of the area just west of the shared-use path and just east of the edge of pavement along the west side of Pine Street. Crews will backfill the area as they progress south. This work will take place predominantly off the roadway; however, it may require shoulder closures along Pine Street. This work will impact driveways. Impacted property owners and tenants will be notified. Access and egress will be maintained throughout.
Crews will begin installing stormwater infrastructure along the west side of Pine Street. This work will require lane shifts or lane reductions with alternating one-way traffic along Pine Street.
Over the next few weeks, crews will be installing sidewalks along portions of Flynn Avenue, Home Avenue, Ferguson Avenue and Lyman Avenue between Foster Street and the railroad tracks. This work will require intermittent shoulder and single-lane closures.
On Tuesday, September 5, crews will be paving the section of Home Avenue from the railroad crossing heading west to the project limits just beyond Queen City Park Road. This work will require single-lane closures. Crews will be installing the final course or finishing course of pavement at the Ferguson and Lyman Avenues cul-de-sacs. Vehicular access to the cul-de-sacs will be restricted for several hours as the pavement is installed and completes the cooling and hardening process. Driveways that access the cul-de-sacs will be inaccessible by vehicle during that time. Impacted property owners will be notified. Paving operations are subject to weather and subcontractor availability.
Curb installation will take place Wednesday, September 6, through Friday September 8, along Flynn Avenue. This work will be completed under intermittent single-lane closures. Driveways will be temporarily closed during curb installation. Impacted property owners will be notified.
Crews will complete additional work outside of the roadway throughout the project area. Crews will be working along the Champlain Parkway between Home and Lakeside Avenues. Crews will complete fine-grading and paving of the shared-use path.
