| | No paving activities will take place tomorrow, Friday, October 17, along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street. The remaining paving activities have been rescheduled to the week of October 20. Tomorrow, Friday, October 17, crews will focus on prepping the King Street and Pine Street intersection and Main Street and Pine Street intersection for paving as well as sidewalk installation at the Maple Street and Pine Street intersection. Traffic impact highlights for the Champlain Parkway Project for Monday, October 20, through Friday, October 24, are listed below:

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection: Early next week, the intersection will be closed for several hours for paving activities. Closure is anticipated for Monday, October 20, during the morning hours, weather permitting.

Pine Street – Main Street to King Street: Early next week, this segment will be restricted to local traffic only as crews pave the adjacent intersections. Pine Street will be accessible via Main Street only during the morning hours and King Street only during the afternoon hours (subject to change). Potential for intermittent lane closures or shifts for permanent line striping preparation throughout the week.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection: Early next week, the intersection will be closed for several hours for paving activities. Closure is anticipated for Monday, October 20, during the afternoon hours, weather permitting.

Pine Street – King Street to Maple Street: Early next week, this segment will be restricted to local traffic only as crews pave the adjacent intersection, accessible via Maple Street only during the afternoon hours (subject to change). Potential for intermittent lane closures or shifts for permanent line striping preparation throughout the week.

Please note that all vehicular impacts are restricted to active work hours (Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM) unless otherwise noted. Paving activities are weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change. Traffic impacts will be significant and travels should seek alternative routes when possible.

Traffic impact highlights for the Main Street – Great Streets Project for Monday, October 20, through Friday, October 24, are listed below:
- Main St is now open to vehicles nights and weekends unless otherwise noted. Generally, “nights” begin at 5:30 p.m.
- While some pedestrian detours may be in place, pedestrian access is maintained throughout the entire project area unless otherwise noted.

Main: St Paul – Church: Local traffic only during daytime work hours. Work occurring on both sides of the sidewalk area.

Main/Church Intersection: Closed to vehicles during daytime work hours.

Church: Main-King: Local traffic only during daytime work hours.

Main: Church – S Winooski: Closed to vehicles during daytime work hours. Work occurring within sidewalk area on both sides of the street.

On-street parking will not be available at any time.

Main/S Winooski Intersection: Intermittent closures to vehicles during daytime work hours as needed. Open to traffic nights and weekends.

NOTE: Temporary traffic signals have been installed and are operational. These are not the permanent signals, and as such, the timing is pre-programmed and cannot be adjusted. Due to the high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at this intersection, these temporary signals are necessary. Thank you for your patience.

NOTE: Some Burlington Electric Department (BED) work will occur in the coming weeks that will require outages. Impacted customers will be notified by BED directly.

S. Winooski Avenue: Main - King: Unrelated project work from a private developer will limit travel to southbound traffic only. This pattern will be in place until further notice.

Pine Street (north) - Main Street to Kilburn Street:
Next week, the line striping subcontractor will be on site completing prep work for final line striping installation along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street anticipated to start the week of October 27. This work may require intermittent lane closures or traffic shifts along the corridor. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
Main Street at Pine Street Intersection:
Crews anticipate paving the final wearing (top) course of pavement at the intersection of Main Street and Pine Street. This work is anticipated to take place on Monday, October 20, during the morning hours, but could be delayed due to inclement weather. This work will require the full closure of the intersection while the work is completed. Motorists should seek alternative routes.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection:
Crews anticipate paving the final wearing (top) course of pavement at the intersection of King Street and Pine Street. This work is anticipated to take place on Monday, October 20, during the afternoon hours, but could be delayed due to inclement weather. This work will require the full closure of the intersection while the work is completed. Motorists should seek alternative routes.

Maple Street at Pine Street Intersection:
Crews will continue working to install the remaining sections of sidewalk at the intersection of Maple Street at Pine Street. This work will take place predominantly outside of the roadway but may require short single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic.
Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:
Crews will continue working to install the remaining sections of sidewalk along Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street. This work will take place predominantly outside of the roadway but may require short single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic. Residential and business driveways will not be impacted.

Pine Street (south) Cul-De-Sac:
Crews will be working in the cul-de-sac at the southernmost end of Pine Street, prepping the area for future wearing (top) course pavement. Paving could take place as early as Monday or Tuesday of next week if time allows. Otherwise, paving will take place the week of October 26. Preparation work and final paving will impact access for adjacent properties. Impacted property owners have been notified.
Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:
Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. The segment of the Champlain Parkway between Interstate 189 and Home Avenue is not completed and is not open for public access. Active construction continues along this segment, which includes the movement and transport of construction vehicles, equipment, and materials. All other access (vehicular, pedestrian, or bicycle) is strictly prohibited.
| | The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. | | |
The initial contract, conditionally accepted in December 2024, included the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.
The final contract, which broke ground in January 2025, includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from existing I-189 near its intersection with U.S. Route 7 to Home Avenue and the section of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street.
