TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends, and access to residential and business driveways will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the work zone.
Throughout the week, Flynn Avenue will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic between Briggs Street and the railroad crossing to facilitate roadway reconstruction. In addition, the City of Burlington is paving the section of Flynn Avenue starting west of the railroad crossing and continuing to Oak Beach Drive. This work is anticipated to be completed in mid-July. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Crews will continue excavating along Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) to facilitate the installation of underground utilities (waterline, electrical vaults, and ductbank) and the reconstruction of the roadway. Crews will also be installing traffic signal bases at the intersection of Lakeside Avenue and the Parkway alignment. This work will be completed under the full closure of Lakeside Avenue within the project limits.
Crews will be installing waterline within the intersection of Lakeside Avenue and Pine Street between the nighttime hours of 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. starting Monday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. This work will be completed under the full closure of Lakeside Avenue and single-lane closures with one-way alternating traffic along Pine Street.
Crews will continue reconstructing Flynn Avenue between Briggs Street and the railroad crossing. Crews will excavate sections of Flynn Avenue for reconstruction under single-lane closures. Motorists should expect a gravel surface along portions of Flynn Avenue throughout the week. This may require short driveway closures along Flynn Avenue. Alternative access to businesses will be provided as needed.
Work will continue constructing the cul-de-sacs at the west end of Ferguson and Lyman Avenues and the south end of Briggs Street as crews install curb. This work may require short driveway closures. Impacted property owners and residents will be notified by a member of the Project Team.
Traffic signal bases will be installed on Sears Lane at its intersection with the Champlain Parkway. This work will require minimal impacts to traffic.
Crews will complete additional work outside of the roadway throughout the project area. Crews will begin grading the bike path along the Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and Lakeside Avenue.
