Champlain Parkway Project

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Monday, August 29, through Friday, September 2, Sears Lane will be reduced to one lane with one-way alternating traffic between Pine Street and Kaigle’s Service Center between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Sears Lane will be reopened to two lanes with two-way traffic between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Flaggers will be present to assist travelers through the work zone. Driveway access will be maintained.


Crews will be offsite Friday, September 2, at noon and will resume work Tuesday, September 6, at 7:00 a.m. in observance of Labor Day.


Sears Lane will continue to be closed to through traffic west of Kaigle’s Service Center. Emergency vehicle access will remain. The pedestrian crossing between Sears Lane and Harrison Avenue will remain open. Vehicle access to the HULA Lakeside Offsite Parking Lot (HULA parking lot) will now be from Lakeside Avenue only.  

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, DURATION, AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Crews will continue utility work on Sears Lane between Kaigle’s Service Center and 40 Sears Lane including the installation of sewer and water pipes, power and communications conduit, and utility sleeves. Next week, crews will complete sewer work and begin water line work in this area.


Crews will continue work on the stormwater detention pond including installing associated stormwater infrastructure leading from the detention pond towards Flynn Avenue and outflow structures from the detentention pond to Englesby Brook. Crews will continue constructing of the embankment for the Englesby Brook box culvert. Ground improvements in the area have been completed.


Crews will continue excavating the roadway alignment for the Champlain Parkway east of Briggs Street within the City’s Right-of-Way starting at Flynn Avenue and working towards the south. This work will take place off the roadway with no anticipated impacts to traffic. No roadway alignment work will be completed at the intersecting side streets (Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place) next week. 

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street. 

PROJECTED COMPLETION: Initial Contract 2024

                                                     Final Contract 2027
