Construction Update

Champlain Parkway Project

DATE: Friday, July 28, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends, and access to residential and business driveways will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the work zone.

Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) will continue to be closed for three more weeks. The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional information regarding the work at Lakeside Avenue, click here.

There is the potential for shoulder closures along the west side of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Lakeside Avenue to facilitate the installation of the shared-use path.

Flynn Avenue will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic between Foster Street and approximately 200 feet west of the railroad crossing to facilitate the reconstruction of the roadway.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews will continue excavating along Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) to facilitate the installation of underground utilities (waterline, electrical vaults, conduit, duct bank, and stormwater infrastructure) and the reconstruction of the roadway. This work will be completed under the full closure of Lakeside Avenue within the project limits.

Starting next week, crews will begin constructing the shared-use path along the west side of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Lakeside Avenue. Crews will begin at Kilburn Street and continue working south. This work will take place predominantly off the roadway, however, it may require shoulder closures along Pine Street. This work will impact driveways. Impacted property owners and tenants will be notified. Access and egress will be maintained throughout the work.

Paving operations are scheduled to take place along Flynn Avenue (east) between Foster Street and the railroad crossing on Monday, July 31, weather permitting. Reconstruction work along Flynn Avenue (west) starting at the railroad crossing and extending approximately 200 feet to the west will continue throughout the week. This section of Flynn Avenue is anticipated to be fine-graded by the end of the week. There is the potential for paving operations to take place along Flynn Avenue (west). Paving operations are dependent on weather and the availability of paving crews. This work will take place under single-lane closures.

Crews will complete additional work outside of the roadway throughout the project area. Crews will continue top soiling and seeding along the Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and Lakeside Avenue.
