Construction Update

DURATION:

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Pine Street (north) Main Street to Kilburn Street:

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection:

Work continues for the reconstruction of the intersection at Pine Street and Main Street. The intersection is open to vehicular traffic. Curb crews are scheduled to install curb late next week. This work will take approximately one to two days and will require the intersection to fully close as the curb work is completed. Pine Street between Main Street and King Street will be restricted to local traffic only during the closure and be accessible via King Street only. A supplemental Traffic Alert will be issued prior to the closure.

Pine Street – Main Street to King Street:

Crews will begin installing concrete sidewalk along the west side of Pine Street between Main Street and King Street. This work will take place predominantly off the roadway. This work will require temporary driveway closures lasting 24 hours while crews form and pour the concrete and allow the concrete to cure long enough for it to be plated. Impacted properties will be notified directly in advance. Pedestrians will be detoured to the east side of the roadway. Sidewalk work is weather-dependent.

Pine Street – Main Street to Maple Street:

Crews will continue to fine-grade Pine Street between Main Street and Maple Street. This work will require intermittent lane closures, restrictions to local traffic only, and traffic delays and short stoppages. This work will also cause short temporary driveway and side street closures while fine-grading equipment pass. This work will require the full closure of the intersection of King Street and Pine Street on Monday, June 16. Pine Street between Main Street and King Street will be accessible via Main Street. Base paving is tentatively scheduled for June 23rd and 24th.

Pine Street between Main Street and Maple Street will be restricted to local traffic only during fine-grading operations. Businesses will remain open and accessible along Pine Street. Northbound thru vehicular traffic on Pine Street will be detoured at Maple Street and southbound thru vehicular traffic on Pine Street at College Street. Thru truck traffic will be detoured to St. Paul Street and Kilburn Street.

Intersections of King and Pine Street and Maple and Pine Street:

Potential for independent utility companies to relocate aerial electrical utilities at the intersection of King Street at Pine Street and the intersection of Maple Street at Pine Street. This work will be completed under lane closures with alternating one-way traffic and parking restrictions. Fine-grading activities will require the full closure of the intersection of King Street and Pine Street on Monday, June 16. Pine Street between Main Street and King Street will be accessible via Main Street.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:

Crews will begin removing existing sidewalk and curb along the west side of Pine Street just north of Bobbin Mills and just south of New England Flooring Company on Tuesday, June 17, under lane closures with traffic shifts. On-street parking along this segment will be temporarily closed. Businesses will remain open and accessible along Pine Street. Pedestrians will be detoured to the open side of the roadway. Sections of the temporary pedestrian travel ways will be gravel; please exercise caution. Sidewalk and curb removal and gravel establishment across residential and business driveways will require short temporary driveway closures. Impacted properties will be notified directly in advance.

Pine Street at Howard Street:

S.D. Ireland has completed the installation of the concrete pads and erected the bus shelters just south of the intersection of Pine Street and Howard Street. Crews will continue working in the area to install the pedestrian connections to the shelters and restore the surrounding greenscape. This work is part of the initial contract, which was postponed due to manufacturing delays. These activities will be completed predominantly outside of the roadway with instances of lane closures with alternating one-way traffic.

Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:

Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. Crews will clean up along the future parkway alignment in preparation for fine-grading activities scheduled to begin late next week. This work will start with the mainline followed by the ramps. These activities will take place off the roadway with limited impact on traffic. Base paving is tentatively scheduled for June 25th
