Champlain Parkway Project

DURATION:

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., access to residential and business driveways will be maintained, and all roadway, lane, and parking restrictions will be lifted during the evening hours and on weekends. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone during active construction hours.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Next week, crews will work to complete the remaining punchlist items throughout the project limits including the Champlain Parkway between Home Avenue and Lakeside Avenue, nearby side streets including Home Avenue, Lyman Avenue, Ferguson Avenue, Briggs Street, Flynn Avenue, and Sears Lane, Lakeside Avenue between the railroad crossing and Pine Street, and Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street. This work may require lane or shoulder closures, on-street parking restrictions, driveway impacts, and changes to traffic patterns. Access to impacted properties will be maintained.


Crews will continue general clean-up and landscaping activities throughout the project area. Patch work will continue at the raised intersections along Pine Street (Howard Street, Marble Avenue, and Kilburn Street). Corrective paving operations will continue in various locations along Lakeside Avenue and Pine Street. Curb crews will be onsite making final curb repairs and adjustments throughout the project area. There is the potential for waterline-related work to continue into next week near Ferguson Avenue.

 

East Coast Signals is anticipated to be onsite upgrading traffic signal equipment at the intersections of the Champlain Parkway at Lakeside Avenue and Pine Street at Lakeside Avenue. In addition, East Coast Signals will be making adjustments to the signal timing and phasing at the intersections of the Champlain Parkway at Home Avenue, Flynn Avenue, Sears Lane, and Lakeside Avenue to address observations made since the new roadway was opened to traffic.



In the upcoming weeks, crews will install the future bus shelter foundations on Pine Street, a supplemental Traffic Alert will be issued.

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.

Final Contract 2026

NEARBY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ALERT:

Construction vehicles and other equipment will be traveling throughout the South End as part of the Burlington Great Streets: Main Street Project, which began construction in February. A staging area for this project (where construction materials and equipment are stored) is located on Sears Lane. In addition, this project will be detouring traffic through the Champlain Parkway project limits.
