TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Please note, all work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. All roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends unless otherwise noted. Access to residential and business driveways will be maintained throughout the work unless alerted otherwise. Businesses will remain open!

Ferguson Avenue will be closed west of Foster Street near its intersection with Briggs Street starting Tuesday, December 27, at 7:00 a.m. through Friday, December 30, at noon to facilitate utility work. This closure will be in effect 24 hours a day during that duration. Lyman Avenue may be reduced to one lane with alternating east-west traffic. There is the potential for Lyman Avenue to be closed west of Foster Street near its intersection with Briggs Street to facilitate utility work.

Throughout the week, traffic along Briggs Street will be temporarily shifted onto the parkway alignment. Briggs Street will be intermittently reduced to a single lane with alternating north-south traffic. The parkway alignment is a gravel surface. Motorists should use caution.

Late next week, there is the potential for Home Avenue to be temporarily reduced to one lane with alternating one-way traffic to facilitate duct bank work.

Sears Lane will continue to be closed to thru traffic west of Kaigle’s Service Center. Emergency vehicle access will remain. The pedestrian crossing between Sears Lane and Harrison Avenue will remain open. Vehicle access to the HULA Lakeside Offsite Parking Lot (HULA parking lot) will now be from Lakeside Avenue only.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews will continue work on utilities next week with a focus on switching over water services and the installation of electrical conduit, stormwater infrastructure, and duct bank.

Water service work is anticipated on Tuesday, December 27, on Ferguson Avenue. This work will require a water service disruption. The water service disruption is anticipated to last for approximately 4 hours and impact businesses and residents along portions of Ferguson Avenue. The water service disruption is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, from 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Impacted businesses and residents will be notified 48 hours in advance by Burlington Water Resources.

Crews will continue installing stormwater infrastructure between Flynn and Home Avenues along Briggs Street working south starting near Ferguson Avenue. This work will include installing the connections from the mainline on Briggs Street to the side streets such as Ferguson and Lyman Avenues. In addition, crews will be conducting preparatory work for the installation of the new stormwater treatment system to be located in the back parking lot of the Flynn Avenue Co-op located at 288 Flynn Avenue. Next week, crews will be on-site with DigSafe next week to map out underground utilities and the future location of the new sediment-capturing device. After New Years, crews will begin installing the new stormwater treatment system. This work will take a month to complete. Supplemental information will be issued to the residents of the Flynn Avenue Co-op.

Work will continue off the roadway in the area between Sears Lane and Flynn Avenue. Crews will continue working on the stormwater detention pond and installing the drainage and subbase on the area near the box culvert. Later in the week, there is the potential for work installing duct banks along Home Avenue.

Next week, crews will be installing electrical conduit along Ferguson and Lyman Avenues. This work will require service connections to residences over the upcoming weeks. A member of the Champlain Parkway project team has reached out to property owners in advance to schedule service connections.

Independent utility companies will be onsite over the next several weeks relocating existing utilities. Next week, Consolidated Communications will be onsite installing a new utility pole on Home Avenue and Lyman Avenue. BED will relocate a pole on Flynn Avenue.
