Construction Update

Champlain Parkway Project

DATE: Friday, November 18, 2022

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Crews will be offsite starting Wednesday, November 23, at noon in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday and will return Monday, November 28, at 7:00 a.m.

Home Ave will be closed for two days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. between the shared-use path just east of Queen City Park Road and Foster Street the week after the Thanksgiving holiday to facilitate water line and service work. A signed detour route will be in place. Supplemental notices will follow. Water service interruptions are anticipated. Impacted property owners will by notified in advance by Burlington Water Resources or a member of the project team.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, DURATION, AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Please note, all work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and will generally take place only during daylight hours. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. All roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends. Access to residential and business driveways will be maintained throughout the work unless alerted otherwise. Businesses will remain open!

Utility work will continue throughout the project along Flynn Avenue, Briggs Street, Lyman Avenue, Ferguson Avenue, Morse Place, Batchelder Street, and Home Avenue. Work will include the installation of new sewer lines, water lines, stormwater infrastructure, duct bank, and conduit.

Throughout next week, crews will complete any remaining water service and duct bank installations along Flynn Avenue between Foster and Briggs Streets. Once the remaining utility work is completed, crews will begin preparing Flynn Avenue for paving between Foster Street and just west of Briggs Street. This work is anticipated to continue into the following week and will be completed under single lane closure with alternating east-west traffic. Paving activities are weather dependent.

Crews will continue installing water line on Lyman and Ferguson Avenue, Morse Place, and Batchelder Street continuing south towards Home Avenue. The following week crews will begin water tie in and water service throughout the area. Water service work will require a minor interruption in water service. Impacted property and business owners will be contacted directly by Burlington Water Resources or a member of the project team. This work will be completed under lane reductions or temporary roadway closures. Batchelder Street will remain closed to through traffic.

Crews will continue installing stormwater infrastructure starting near the intersection of Briggs Street and Flynn Avenue and working south towards Home Avenue. Traffic will be maintained along the temporary gravel roadway constructed along the east side of Briggs Street.

Crews will continue working on the installation of the Englesby Brook box culvert. This work will be completed off the roadway.

Sears Lane will continue to be closed to thru traffic west of Kaigle’s Service Center. Emergency vehicle access will remain. The pedestrian crossing between Sears Lane and Harrison Avenue will remain open. Vehicle access to the HULA Lakeside Offsite Parking Lot (HULA parking lot) will now be from Lakeside Avenue only.
