TRAFFIC IMPACTS:  

Unless otherwise noted, work will be restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends, and access to residential and business driveways will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists throughout the work zone. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the work zone.

Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) will continue to be closed for five more weeks. The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional information regarding the work at Lakeside Avenue, click here.

Throughout the week, Flynn Avenue will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic between Foster Street and the railroad crossing to facilitate fine-grading and paving operations.  

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews will continue excavating along Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) to facilitate the installation of underground utilities (waterline, electrical vaults, conduit, ductbank, and stormwater infrastructure) and the reconstruction of the roadway. Crews will also be installing traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Lakeside Avenue and the Parkway alignment. This work will be completed under the full closure of Lakeside Avenue within the project limits.



Crews will continue reconstructing Flynn Avenue between Foster Street and the railroad crossing. Crews will fine-grade and pave the reconstructed segment of Flynn Avenue under single-lane closures. Motorists should expect a gravel surface along portions of Flynn Avenue throughout the week. This may require minor impacts to driveway along Flynn Avenue access to businesses and residents will be maintained.

Traffic signal equipment will be installed on Sears Lane at its intersection with the Champlain Parkway. This work will require minimal impacts to traffic.

Crews will complete additional work outside of the roadway throughout the project area. Crews will continue installing conduit and top soiling and seeding along the Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and Lakeside Avenue. 

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF QUIET ZONE: Work continues on the rail road crossing improvements at Flynn and Home Avenues. A temporary suspension of the residential Quiet Zone will be in effect to facilitate the improvement work. Audible train horns will be used to provide advanced warning of oncoming trains. The residential Quiet Zone will be reestablished once the work is completed.

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.
