DATE: Friday, May 12, 2023

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The section of Flynn Avenue at the railroad crossing will be closed starting Sunday, May 21 at 5:00 a.m. through Monday, May 22 at 8:00 a.m. to facilitate work on the railroad. A local detour will be signed to access Flynn Avenue west of the railroad utilizing Home Avenue, Austin Drive, Oakbeach Drive, and Lake Forest Drive.

The closure of Home Avenue will be temporarily suspended throughout the Flynn Avenue closure period. Supplemental information to follow.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Please note, all work will be restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. All roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends unless otherwise noted. Access to residential and business driveways will be maintained throughout the work unless alerted otherwise. Businesses will remain open! Motorists should anticipate rough and uneven gravel driving surfaces throughout the work zone.

The section of Home Avenue just west of Foster Street and just east of Queen City Park Road will continue to be closed. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is anticipated to last approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Local access to residents and businesses will be maintained. A detour route will be signed utilizing Queen City Park Road. For additional information including a detour graphic, click here.

Batchelder Street and Briggs Street will be closed during the day and will reopen each evening to facilitate curb installation. Traffic will be shifted onto the Parkway alignment throughout the day. Morse Place, west of Foster Street, will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Reminder, on-street parking along Briggs Street has been permanently removed. Residential and business access will be maintained.

Throughout the week, Flynn Avenue will be reduced to a single lane near the railroad crossing with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews will continue working on Home Avenue between Foster Street and Queen City Park Road under a full closure. Work continues on waterline installation as crews tie in the new waterlines to the existing system early next week. There is the potential for temporary water service interruptions to complete this work. Impacted property owners and residents will be notified by Burlington Water Resources. Crews will continue excavating the roadway to install stormwater infrastructure and electrical and telecommunication duct bank.

Crews will be installing curb along Briggs Street and Batchelder Street and along a portion of Morse Place under lane closures. There is the potential for short temporary driveway access restrictions to facilitate curb installation. Impacted property owners and residents will be notified by a member of the Project Team.

Crews will begin working on improvements to the railroad crossing on Flynn Avenue throughout the week under lane closures.

Conduit for future light poles will continue to be installed along the Parkway alignment between Sears Lane and Flynn Avenue. In addition, crews will begin installing underdrain along the Parkway alignment. This work will take place outside of the roadway.
