Traffic impact highlights for the Champlain Parkway Project for Monday, August 11, through Friday, August 15, are listed below:

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection: Open to traffic. Potential lane restrictions throughout the week. Pedestrian detours will be in place.

Pine Street – Main Street to King Street: Fully open.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection: Fully open.

Pine Street – King Street to Maple Street: Fully open.

Maple Street at Pine Street Intersection: Partially closed. Maple Street and the northern leg of Pine Street will remain open. The southern leg of Pine Street will be fully closed during the daytime hours and reopened at night.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street: Open to local traffic only via Kilburn Street during the daytime hours and reopened at night. Potential lane closures with alternating one-way traffic late next week for paving activities.

Future Champlain Parkway – I-189 to Home Avenue: Fully closed, all traffic strictly prohibited.

Traffic impact highlights for the Main Street – Great Streets Project for Monday, August 11, through Friday, August 15, are listed below:

Main/Pine: Open to traffic. Potential lane restrictions throughout the week. Pedestrian detours will be in place.

Main: Pine – St Paul: Sidewalk impacts. Vehicle access available.

Main/St Paul: Partial closures throughout the week. The intersection will be open nights and weekends.

Main: St Paul – Church: Local traffic only.

Main/Church: Closed to vehicle traffic during daytime work hours. The intersection will open nights and weekends. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Main: Church – S Winooski: Fully closed to vehicle traffic until Friday, 8/15 at the end of the work day (approximately 5:30 p.m.) at which time the intersection will reopen to two-way traffic nights and weekends.
- Early next week, paving of the base course of asphalt will take place, weather permitting. After paving has been completed, granite curb installation will begin.

Main/S Winooski: Fully closed to vehicle traffic until Friday, 8/15 at the end of the work day (approximately 5:30 p.m.) at which time the intersection will reopen to two-way traffic nights and weekends.

Stop signs will be installed at the intersection prior to its reopening and will remain in place until temporary signals can be installed. If driver compliance becomes an issue the intersection will need to close. Please use caution and be mindful of pedestrians as you navigate this intersection reopening.

King Street: Church - S. Winooski: Closed to vehicular traffic. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Pine Street (north) Main Street to Kilburn Street:
Main Street at Pine Street Intersection:
Crews will continue installing concrete sidewalks at the intersection of Main Street and Pine Street throughout the week. Crews will work at one corner at a time, continuing with the southwest corner before transitioning to the northeast corner. Pedestrian access will be maintained with detours in place. Limited impacts to traffic, if any. There is the potential for lane restrictions to accommodate equipment and materials, but the intersection will remain open to traffic.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:
Early next week, crews will continue removing the existing sidewalk and curb along the east side of Pine Street between Maple Street and the project limits just north of Kilburn Street. Starting mid-week, crews will be grading the driveways.
There is the potential for base paving to take place late next week. This work will require lane closures with alternating one-way traffic and temporary driveway interruptions while the paver passes and the asphalt cools. A supplemental traffic alert will be issued in advance of paving activities.
Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street will be restricted to local traffic only and accessible from the south. Businesses will remain open and residences will remain accessible. Southbound thru vehicular traffic on Pine Street will be detoured at Maple Street and northbound thru vehicular traffic on Pine Street will be detoured at Kilburn Street to St. Paul Street. Thru truck traffic will be detoured at College Street (southbound) and Kilburn Street (northbound) to St. Paul Street.
The sidewalk along the east side will be temporarily closed while this work is completed, and pedestrians will be detoured to the west side. Sidewalk and curb removal will require driveways to be temporarily closed for 2-3 hours between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM to allow crews to remove the existing sidewalk and curb and reestablish the driveways with gravel so they are traversable. Driveway grading will take approximately an hour. Impacted property owners will be notified.

Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:
Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. Next week, crews will continue raising drainage and grates to grade and installing guardrail along the Champlain Parkway. There is the potential for crews to begin rehabilitation to the existing median barrier along the Champlain Parkway beneath the Route 7 Bridge. The public is reminded that this segment of the Champlain Parkway is NOT open to public access or travel of any kind.

During driveway closures residents are asked to find alternative parking.

Residents can find parking along neighboring streets, but should be aware of on-street parking restrictions, especially along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street on weekdays between 7AM and 7PM. Vehicles parked in temporary construction no-parking zones during active work hours will be towed.

Free parking accommodations are available within the College Street City Garage starting at 7PM the day prior to any driveway closure through 7PM the day the driveway reopens.
- If you require special parking accommodations due to mobility limitations, alternative accessible parking accommodations will be made by the Contractor.
To request parking accommodations, please reach out to the Project Team with your address and the make, model, color, and license plate state and number of your vehicle. This information will be provided to Burlington Parking Services to reserve your parking. Your parking accommodation will automatically extend should driveway closures be delayed.

The initial contract, conditionally accepted in December 2024, included the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.
The final contract, which broke ground in January 2025, includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from existing I-189 near its intersection with U.S. Route 7 to Home Avenue and the section of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street.
