Construction Update

DURATION:

Crews will be offsite starting Thursday, July 2, at noon, and won’t return until Monday, July 6, in observance of Independence Day (Fourth of July). Minor construction activities will resume on Monday, July 6.

Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10, daytime construction activities will take place between 7 AM and 7 PM. All work is weather and temperature-dependent. 

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

All work in the coming weeks will be weather and temperature-dependent and is subject to change.



Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street: Crews will be mowing, installing signage, and performing curb and sidewalk work throughout this area. This work is anticipated to take place under lane and shoulder closures controlled by flaggers. Traffic will be maintained in all directions.

Route 7 between the Champlain Parkway ramps and Queen City Park Road: There is the potential for crews to complete line striping work throughout this area. This work is anticipated to take place under lane and shoulder closures controlled by flaggers. Traffic will be maintained in all directions.

I-189 Eastbound and Westbound between the Farrell Street bridges and Route 7 (Shelburne Road) and the Champlain Parkway: Crews will be installing signage, reflectors on barriers, and potentially beginning to install rumble striping. This work is anticipated to take place next week under lane closures controlled by flaggers. Traffic will be maintained in all directions.

Throughout the Project Limits: Crews will install the remaining post-mounted signs throughout the project limits along I-189, Route 7, the Champlain Parkway, Battery Street, Pine Street, and some intersecting side streets, including Maple Street and Main Street. This work will take place primarily outside of the roadway under shoulder and parking lane closures.

MAIN STREET GREAT STREETS HIGHLIGHTS:

Traffic impact highlights for the Main Street – Great Streets Project for Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10, are listed below:

Permanent Roadway Markings: Main St: Battery – Willard

• Painting will occur with short term full block closure (one block and intersection at a time). This work is anticipated to be overnight and continue into next week.

Work is weather dependent. Project message boards will be updated with exact dates and times as needed

Sidewalk/Surface work

• Main St: S Winooski - Church, two public art installations on both the north and south side 7/8, 7/9 rain date.
• Main St: The Flynn - Church St brick paver work instillation.
• Church St: Main - King, sidewalk prep and install continues.
• Various sections of sidewalk are being replaced throughout the project due to premature wear.
• Landscaping and other surface features throughout the project continue.

Pedestrian access is maintained unless otherwise noted.

There will be no construction on Friday 7/3. Please note that there will be no parking on Main St from 9-11:30 PM on 7/3 to allow for shuttle buses leaving the waterfront.
