Construction Update

Champlain Parkway Project

DATE: Friday, January 13, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Please note, all work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. All roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends unless otherwise noted. Access to residential and business driveways will be maintained throughout the work unless alerted otherwise. Businesses will remain open!

Briggs Street will remain open with intermittent traffic shifts onto the parkway alignment to accommodate stormwater infrastructure crossings at Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place over the next couple of weeks. Briggs Street is anticipated to reopen during the evening hours and on weekends. Please note, the parkway alignment is a gravel surface. Motorists should use caution.

Lyman Avenue is closed at its intersection with Briggs Street and will remain closed 24 hours a day through early next week to facilitate utility work. Lyman Avenue will remain closed over the weekend of January 13.

There is the potential for single-day closures of Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place at their intersection with Briggs Street towards the end of next week to facilitate stormwater crossovers and sections of underdrain.

Sears Lane will continue to be closed to thru traffic west of Kaigle’s Service Center. Emergency vehicle access will remain. The pedestrian crossing between Sears Lane and Harrison Avenue will remain open. Vehicle access to the HULA Lakeside Offsite Parking Lot (HULA parking lot) will now be from Lakeside Avenue only.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews will continue work on utilities with a focus on completing the waterline work and the installation of stormwater infrastructure, underdrain, and electrical and telecommunication utilities. Some of this work will be completed under road and lane closures as described above.

Crews will work to complete the remaining waterline work on Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place.

Crews will continue installing stormwater infrastructure between Flynn and Home Avenues. This work will include installing the mainline along Briggs Street and Batchelder Street starting near Lyman Avenue and the connections to the side streets such as Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place. The connections to the side streets are anticipated to being later in the week and continue into the following. The work will require traffic shifts along Briggs Street and closures of Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place at their intersection with Briggs Street.

Crews will be installing underdrain along the parkways alignment beginning just north of Flynn Avenue working south towards Home Avenue. This work will take place off the roadway. This work will require closures of Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, and Morse Place at their intersection with the parkway alignment to complete those segments. These closures are anticipated to begin the following week.

Crews continue working on electrical and telecommunications work for residences on Briggs Street, Ferguson, Lyman, and Home Avenues. This work will require service connections to residences over the upcoming weeks. All property owners have been notified.

Independent utility companies will be onsite over the next several weeks relocating existing utilities. There is the potential for utility service disruptions as part of this work. Impacted businesses and residents will be notified in advance by the independent utility companies.

PROJECT LOOK AHEAD (JANUARY 23 - 27):

These activities are anticipated and subject to change as construction conditions dictate.

  • Underdrain work along the parkway alignment
  • Preparatory work for the installation of street lighting (conduit installation)
