Construction Update

Champlain Parkway Project

DATE: Friday, December 9, 2022

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Construction activities will continue throughout the winter. This work will focus on utility work on the side streets between Flynn Avenue and Home Avenue including Briggs Street, Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue, Morse Place, and Batchelder Street.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, DURATION, AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Please note, all work will be restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. All roadway and lane closures will reopen during the evening hours and on weekends. Access to residential and business driveways will be maintained throughout the work unless alerted otherwise. Businesses will remain open!

Next week, crews will continue installing storm drain, water services, and duct bank along the side streets between Flynn Avenue and Home Avenue. Next week, the storm drain work will take place along Briggs Street working south. This work is anticipated to continue over the next few weeks. Water service work is anticipated to be completed next week and will take place along Briggs Street, Ferguson Avenue, Lyman Avenue and Batchelder Street working south. There is the potential for minor service interruptions as water services are switched over. Impacted property owners will be notified individually. Next week, duct bank installation will take place along Briggs Street with the potential for crews to begin duct bank along portions of Home Avenue later in the week. The work may require temporary lane closures or partial short-term closures of side streets such as Lyman and Ferguson Avenues.

Crews will continue working off the roadway in the area between Sears Lane and Flynn Avenue. Crews will complete work on the stormwater detention pond and backfilling around the Englesby Brook box culvert. The installation of drainage and subbase on the area near the box culvert will continue over the next few weeks.

Independent utility companies will be onsite over the next several weeks relocating existing utilities. Consolidated Communications will be onsite early next week to relocate their utilities into the new duct banks along Flynn Avenue. There is the potential for a single-lane closure with alternating east-west traffic as part of this work. Vermont Gas will be onsite next week relocating existing infrastructure between Flynn and Home Avenues.

Sears Lane will continue to be closed to thru traffic west of Kaigle’s Service Center. Emergency vehicle access will remain. The pedestrian crossing between Sears Lane and Harrison Avenue will remain open. Vehicle access to the HULA Lakeside Offsite Parking Lot (HULA parking lot) will now be from Lakeside Avenue only.
