Construction Update

SPECIAL NOTICE & TRAFFIC ADVISORY:

Upcoming Activation of Pine Street Traffic Signals at Main Street, Maple Street, and King Street

Starting the week of May 4, traffic signals along Pine Street at the intersections with Main Street, Maple Street, and King Street will be activated. This schedule is dependent on the completion of the installation of final line striping and pavement markings. The traffic signals will be set to flash for the first 48 hours before becoming fully operational.

DURATION:

Construction activities on Pine Street will be restricted to the daytime hours of 7 AM and 7 PM, Monday through Friday. Construction activities on the I-189 westbound barrel will be completed overnight between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM, Sunday night through Friday morning.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES & TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Pine Street – Main Street to Kilburn Street:

Line striping and pavement marking installation along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street is anticipated to begin on Monday, April 27, and continue through Wednesday, April 29, if weather and the subcontractor’s schedule allow. This work will require Pine Street to be restricted to local traffic only; access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Traffic holds, and lane closures with alternating one-way traffic or traffic shifts will be needed. Traffic, especially traffic entering and exiting driveways on Pine Street, may be held for up to 30 minutes while the epoxy cures. Cure times are dependent on temperature.

Line striping and pavement marking installation will cause major impacts to traffic and parking. Motorists should expect delays, plan extra travel time, and seek alternative routes whenever possible.

Motorists should seek alternate routes. A suggested route utilizes Kilburn Street, St. Paul Street, and College Street. On-street parking will be prohibited along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street while this work takes place.

Line striping and pavement marking installation will reconfigure the roadway, permanently eliminating the on-street parking between Maple Street and Kilburn Street to accommodate bike lanes.

In addition, crews will be installing post mounted roadway signage.

I-189 Westbound – Between the Spear Street and Farrell Street Overpasses:

Starting Sunday night and continuing throughout the week, crews will continue to install footings and foundations for overhead signs located over the I-189 westbound barrel between the Spear Street and Farrell Street overpasses.

Early next week, crews will work on the infrastructure for the overhead signs just west of Spear Street overpass at night and just west of Farrell Street overpass during the daytime hours.

Starting mid-week, crews will shift to working on the infrastructure for the overhead sign between the overpasses at night.

Night work will be completed between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM, starting the evening of Sunday, April 26, through the morning of Friday, May 1. Day work will be completed between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM, starting the morning of Monday, April 27, through the afternoon of Tuesday, April 28. This work will require single lane closures along the I-189 westbound barrel in this area.

Champlain Parkway – I-189 to Home Avenue:

Crews will be working along the Champlain Parkway between I-189 and Home Avenue completing guardrail, concrete median work, and installing curb and post-mounted signs. This work will be completed within the closed segment of the Champlain Parkway with no impact to traffic.

The segment of the Champlain Parkway between I-189 and Home Avenue is not completed and is not open for public access. Active construction continues along this segment, which includes the movement and transport of construction vehicles, equipment, and materials. All other access (vehicular, pedestrian, or bicycle) is strictly prohibited.
