Crews will be off Pine Street on Friday, September 5, by 2:30 PM for Art Hop. Regular construction activities will resume on Monday, September 8, at 7 AM.

Main Street at Pine Street Intersection: Fully open.

Pine Street – Main Street to King Street: Fully open.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection: Monday, 9/8, at 7 AM through Tuesday, 9/9, at 7 PM, the southerly leg of Pine Street will be closed at the intersection. Tuesday, 9/9, at 7 AM through Thursday, 9/11, at 7 PM, the westerly leg of King Street will be closed at the intersection. Thursday, 9/11, at 7 AM through Monday, 9/15, at 7 PM, the easterly leg of King Street will be closed at the intersection.

Pine Street – King Street to Maple Street: Monday, 9/8, at 7 AM through Tuesday, 9/9, at 7 PM, Pine Street between King Street and Maple Street will be restricted to local traffic only and only accessible via Maple Street.

Maple Street at Pine Street Intersection: The intersection will be open with the exception of southbound traffic at the intersection during the daytime hours. Fully open at night.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street: During the daytime hours, Pine Street will be open to northbound traffic between Maple Street and Kilburn Street while southbound traffic will only be permitted between the Soda Plant and Kilburn Street.

Future Champlain Parkway – I-189 to Home Avenue: Fully closed, all traffic strictly prohibited.

Traffic impact highlights for the Main Street – Great Streets Project for Monday, September 8, through Friday, September 12, are listed below:
- Main St is now open to vehicles nights and weekends unless otherwise noted.
- Generally, “nights” begin at 5:30 p.m.
- While some pedestrian detours may be in place, pedestrian access is maintained throughout the entire project area unless otherwise noted.

Main: St Paul – Church: Local traffic only during daytime work hours. Work occurring on both sides of the sidewalk area.

Main/Church Intersection: Closed to vehicles during daytime work hours.

Main: Church – S Winooski: Closed to vehicles during daytime work hours. Work occurring on the northern sidewalk area.
- On-street parking will not be available at any time.

Main/S Winooski Intersection: Open to traffic North, South and East starting the evening of 9/5 anticipated through 9/9 to accommodate unrelated lane closures on College St. This is subject to change based on the College Street work. The west side of the intersection is closed all week during work hours.
- The intersection will fully close later in the week during daytime work hours.

NOTE: Temporary traffic signals have been installed and are operational. These are not the permanent signals, and as such, the timing is pre-programmed and cannot be adjusted. Due to the high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at this intersection, these temporary signals are necessary. Thank you for your patience.

King Street: Church - S. Winooski: Closed to through-traffic 24/7.

Pine Street (north) - Main Street to Kilburn Street:
Work along Pine Street in various locations between Main Street and Kilburn Street will require Pine Street to be restricted to local traffic only along this segment. All thru vehicular traffic, including trucks, will be detoured at College Street (southbound) and Kilburn Street (northbound) to St. Paul Street. Seek alternate routes! Local traffic, see additional details below.

King Street at Pine Street Intersection:
Next week, crews will continue working to install the brick paver crosswalks at the intersection of King Street and Pine Street. This work will continue into mid-September.
Crews will continue working on the crosswalk across the southerly leg of Pine Street. Crews will be placing the brick pavers and granite edging and base paving the approaches. This work will require the southerly leg of Pine Street at its intersection with King Street to continue to be closed through Tuesday, 9/9, at 7 PM. The southerly block of Pine Street will remain accessible via Maple Street.
Crews will begin working on the crosswalk across the westerly leg of King Street. Crews will first saw cut to remove the existing pavement, place the subbase, and pour the concrete slab before placing the brick pavers and granite edging and finally base paving the approaches. This work will require the westerly leg of King Street at its intersection with Pine Street to be closed starting Tuesday, 9/9, at 7 AM through Thursday, 9/11, at 7 PM. The westerly block of King Street will remain accessible via S. Champlain Street.

Pine Street – Maple Street to Kilburn Street:
Next week, crews will begin installing concrete sidewalk along the segment of Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street starting along the west side. Sidewalk installation will require Pine Street between Maple Street and Kilburn Street to be restricted to northbound traffic only along this segment while southbound traffic will only be permitted between the Soda Plant and Kilburn Street. Throughout the week, pedestrians will be detoured to the east side of Pine Street. Businesses will remain open and residences will remain accessible.
Sidewalk installation will require temporary closures of commercial and residential driveways. During this time, vehicular access will be completely restricted, but pedestrian access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Impacted businesses and residents will be notified in advance. Off the Roadway along the Future Champlain Parkway Alignment:
Work continues along the future Champlain Parkway alignment between Home Avenue and I-189. Crews will continue working on the median barrier along the Champlain Parkway and topsoiling and seeding within the center island. Early next week, crews will be base paving along portions of the future Champlain Parkway. The public is reminded that this segment of the Champlain Parkway is NOT open to public access or travel of any kind.

During driveway closures residents are asked to find alternative parking.

Residents can find parking along neighboring streets, but should be aware of on-street parking restrictions, especially along Pine Street between Main Street and Kilburn Street on weekdays between 7AM and 7PM. Vehicles parked in temporary construction no-parking zones during active work hours will be towed.

Free parking accommodations are available within the College Street City Garage starting at 7PM the day prior to any driveway closure through 7PM the day the driveway reopens.
- If you require special parking accommodations due to mobility limitations, alternative accessible parking accommodations will be made by the Contractor.
To request parking accommodations, please reach out to the Project Team with your address and the make, model, color, and license plate state and number of your vehicle. This information will be provided to Burlington Parking Services to reserve your parking. Your parking accommodation will automatically extend should driveway closures be delayed.
| | The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. | | |
The initial contract, conditionally accepted in December 2024, included the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.
The final contract, which broke ground in January 2025, includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from existing I-189 near its intersection with U.S. Route 7 to Home Avenue and the section of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street.
