Closure of Flynn Avenue in Burlington, VT

Starting Sunday, May 21, at 6:00 a.m., and continuing through Monday, May 22, at 7:00 a.m., the section of Flynn Avenue in the vicinity of the railroad crossing will be closed. Access to the businesses east of the railroad crossing will be maintained along Flynn Avenue.

Leading up to the closure, Flynn Avenue will continue to be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic as crews prepare for the closure. This work will take place on weekdays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. There is the potential for work hours to be extended on Friday, May 19.

Starting Monday, May 22, at 7:00 a.m., Flynn Avenue will reopen to two-way traffic. Flynn Avenue will continue to be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the next 4 weeks. Crews will complete the improvements to the railroad crossing and reconstruct Flynn Avenue.

During the Flynn Avenue closure, a detour will be signed for through traffic utilizing Home Avenue, Austin Drive, Ledgewood Circle, and Oak Beach Drive. The detour route is shown below in pink. The Home Avenue closure between Foster Street and Queen City Park Road will be opened temporarily during the closure of Flynn Avenue.
