Traffic Alert

Closure of Lakeside Avenue and Upcoming Nightwork along Pine Street in Burlington, VT

Startling TOMORROW, Monday, July 10, at 7:00 a.m., and continuing for up to six weeks, the section of Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and the westerly driveway of 128 Lakeside Avenue (the Innovation Center) will be closed. The closure will remain in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the closure period. The closure will allow for the installation of waterline, telecommunication ductbank, stormwater infrastructure and new traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Lakeside Avenue at the Parkway alignment, and the reconstruction of Lakeside Avenue. This work will take place Monday through Friday, predominantly during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.



Access to residents and businesses west of the closure area will be maintained. A detour route will be signed utilizing Pine Street, Sears Lane, Searsway Lane, a temporary roadway constructed through the existing Hula Parking Lot, and Lakeside Avenue. The detour route is shown below in pink. Pedestrian access will be maintained as shown in green below.

Startling TOMORROW, Monday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m. through Tuesday, July 11, 6:30 a.m., crews will be conducting night work at the intersection of Pine Street and Lakeside Avenue to facilitate the installation of waterline infrastructure. Pine Street will be reduced to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic controlled by a flagger. Lakeside Avenue will remain closed at its intersection with Pine Street. This work is weather dependent.

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF QUIET ZONE: Work continues on the rail road crossing improvements at Flynn and Home Avenues. A temporary suspension of the residential Quiet Zone will be in effect to facilitate the improvement work. Audible train horns will be used to provide advanced warning of oncoming trains. The residential Quiet Zone will be reestablished once the work is completed.

ABOUT THE CHAMPLAIN PARKWAY PROJECT

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.
