Temporary Closure of the Southern End of Pine Street on Wednesday, February 5, in Burlington, VT

Starting TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 7:00 a.m., Pine Street will be temporarily closed between Queen City Park Road and South Crest Drive to allow Burlington Water Resources to perform necessary water utility work. This closure is temporary and the connection between Pine Street and Queen City Park Road will be restored at the end of the day. Property access will be maintained.

Motorists should seek alternative routes. A detour route will be signed utilizing Queen City Park Road and Home Avenue.  

This work is weather-dependent.

PROJECT LOCATION:

The Champlain Parkway Project spans a 2.8-mile area from the I-189 intersection with US 7 to Lakeside Avenue, and includes upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Main Street. 

The initial contract, conditionally accepted in December 2024, included the construction of the Champlain Parkway from Home Avenue to Lakeside Avenue, upgrades to Lakeside Avenue, and improvements to the section of Pine Street between Lakeside Avenue and Kilburn Street.



The final contract, broke ground in January 2025, includes the construction of the Champlain Parkway from existing I-189 near its intersection with U.S. Route 7 to Home Avenue, and the section of Pine Street between Kilburn Street and Main Street.

NEARBY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ALERT:

Construction vehicles and other equipment will be traveling throughout the South End as part of the Burlington Great Streets: Main Street Project. A stockpile for this project (where construction materials and equipment are stored) is located on Sears Lane. In addition, this project will be detouring traffic through the Champlain Parkway project limits.
