DEAR SOUTH END RESIDENTS,

The City of Burlington Department of Public Works will be bringing the proposed South End Construction Coordination Plan (SECCP) including an approach to phase the Champlain Parkway construction, to the City Council on September 13th, 2021.

The SECCP is a plan to carefully coordinate and phase the numerous large construction projects in the South End over the next few years and will limit the impacts on Burlington residents and businesses. A major part of the plan is to construct the Champlain Parkway into two phases under two separate contracts
Benefits of the two phased approach to Champlain Parkway under the SECCP:
  • Minimizing construction impacts through strategic coordination
  • Achieving many parkway benefits promptly
  • New stormwater improvements
  • New shared use paths
  • New midblock crosswalk at Pine St & Arts Riot
  • Provides a way to get South End infrastructure in place prior to opening the I-189 connection
  • The City Council has control to authorize the second parkway construction contract when they feel it is the appropriate time.
