Greetings!

This week we're presenting Unbound Visual Arts, Flinn Gallery and Tufts University Art Galleries.

Like many New Englanders I'm already tired of looking at piles of snow. This week's exhibitions are thought-provoking, refreshing and will give your mind a break from slush, ice and freezing temperatures. Snowed in? These exhibits will be on display into February, March and even April, respectively.

Celebrate 20 years of Artscope Magazine with the March/April 2026 20th Anniversary Issue. The deadline to advertise in the March/April issue of Artscope Magazine is Sunday, Feb. 15.

The January/February edition of Artscope Magazine is available at a gallery, museum or arts organization near you. Want more Artscope? Visit artscopemagazine.com and sign up for online access to see all of our articles, reviews, spotlights and profiles any time, anywhere.

in Brighton, Massachusetts through February 15

Unbound Visual Arts presents what could have flickered (on the cusp of a verge of reality), an interactive exhibition by Korean-born and now Boston-based artist Kal Hart. This show is a "collection of seemingly innocuous objects that evoke curiosity; one that lingers into uneasiness," according to a curatorial statement. Visitors are encouraged to indulge their curiosity and offer their "input" by interacting with objects in the exhibition. Every two weeks the exhibition will be "reset" to as close to its original appearance as possible. The "seemingly absurd" objects in the show are "often humorous in nature" and "serve as a playful invitation into systemic disarray." There will be an artist talk on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. The gallery is open Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. Unbound Visual Arts is located at 175 Washington St., Brighton MA. in Greenwich, Connecticut from through March 3

Flinn Gallery presents Performative Stories, a show featuring the work of Dan Hurlin, Janie Geiser, Maiko Kikuchi and Jason Gardner. These four artists "employ colorful figures and motion to express varied narratives," according to a curatorial statement. "As creators, they ask that you as an audience member apply your imagination to complete their presentations." The works in this exhibition represent "narratives that are not only told through words or images but enacted through physical movement and sensory transformation ... often blurring the lines between sculpture, installation, and performance art." There will be an artist talk with Janie Geiser and Maiko Kikuchi on Sunday, March 1 at 2 p.m. The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Flinn Gallery is located at the Greenwich Library, 101 West Putnam Ave., Second Floor, Greenwich, CT. Michelle Lopez: Shadow of a Doubt at Tufts University Art Galleries

in Medford, Massachusetts through April 19.

Tufts University Art Galleries presents Michelle Lopez: Shadow of a Doubt, a show that "traces sculptor and installation artist Michelle Lopez’s longstanding interest in visibility—and invisibility—which she has explored over the past two decades," according to a curatorial statement. Lopez's work, made from industrial materials, "speak to the instability of supposedly fixed or rigid societal structures." For the first time Lopez's drawings will be on display with her sculptural work. Video and sound installations are also featured. There will be a "participatory procession and sound performance" by Michelle Lopez and composer Austin Fisher titled "Keep Their Heads Ringin'" from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 28. There will also be an artist talk held on Friday, March 27 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tufts University Art Galleries is located at 40 Talbot Ave., Medford, MA.
