Temple Chai leadership team.
Dear Congregants,

Temple Chai has established a COVID-19 Task Force that is continually consulting with multiple professional experts and monitoring the developing situation. No cases have been tied to our congregation. However, the Temple Chai leadership has made the difficult decision to suspend all in-person programming until at least March 31, 2020. We have made this choice out of an abundance of caution and deep concern for our members’ well being. Thank you for your flexibility and partnership in helping us continue our congregation’s sacred work during these uncertain times.
SHABBAT SERVICES ON FRIDAYS, MARCH 13, 20 and 27 WILL TAKE PLACE VIA LIVESTREAM ONLY. Please click here to view our livestream from any internet browser. For additional information on how to access the livestream, please click here .
ALL IN-PERSON TEMPLE CHAI CLASSES AND PROGRAMS ARE SUSPENDED DURING THIS TIME. This includes Religious and Hebrew School, adult education, and affiliate programs. There will be forthcoming communications on opportunities to be together digitally in the next few days.
The Temple Chai clergy and staff are continuing to serve our congregation. Both Rabbi Baden and Cantor Simon will be doing pastoral visits by phone and video conference for the time being, and our entire professional staff remains available to our members. Previously scheduled appointments will be moved to phone or videoconference wherever possible. In case of a clergy emergency, please call 224-279-1313.

At this time, we do not know of any members of our congregation diagnosed with COVID-19. However, these are uncertain times and we believe that it is in the best interest of our entire congregation and community to minimize in-person contact. In this way we will do our part in the sacred work of mitigating the spread of this novel virus.

We are continuing to monitor the situation as it develops and will continue to issue regular updates. Please continue to turn to reliable sources of medical information such as the Centers for Disease Control and the Lake County Health Department . At this time, we encourage you to reach out to your loved ones and ensure that all are safe and cared for in our community.

More information will follow shortly regarding alternate ways to connect with the Temple Chai community and access the many resources that we continue to offer to our members.

Sincerely,
Alison Siegel Lewin, Executive Director
Rabbi Ilana G. Baden
Jeff Cohodes, President
Jim Elliot, Chair of Facilities and Security Committee
