As we usher in the new year, we are pleased to announce several exciting changes at BCFL:

Keep your check outs longer! As of January 2, all physical materials in BCFL's collection now circulate for 21 days (except for Lucky Day items, new movies, and video games, which circulate for 7 days). Now you know that you'll have plenty of time to read War and Peace or catch up on Game of Thrones.

Soon, your check out experience will be even smoother and faster. We recently tagged each of the 477,666 items in our physical inventory with radio-frequency identification (RFID) chips so that you'll be able to check out even quicker and easier in 2018. You'll be able to use self-service kiosks, check out multiple items at once and spend less time waiting in line. In addition, RFID technology means that we'll be able to track our items more accurately, get your items back on the shelves faster and prevent loss more effectively.

Don't worry - our friendly, expert staff aren't going anywhere! With RFID, they'll spend less time on administrative tasks and more time with you! You won't have to search too far to find help -- just look for someone wearing a "How can I help you?" button. (Hint: They're probably smiling, too.)

On February 14, BCFL will launch its newest digital resource, cloudLibrary, which will replace Axis360. In addition to the books and audiobooks transferred from Axis 360, cloudLibrary users will be able to choose from an expanded selection of new and backlist titles and more new releases throughout the year! cloudLibrary will be compatible with iOS, Android, Nook, Kindle Fire and PC/Mac computers. Make your plans now to celebrate Valentine's Day with a good book.

We know that change isn't always easy, and we are steadfast in our mission to make your library experience as convenient and meaningful as possible. We are always happy to help, and we welcome your feedback, too!
There's so much to do at our libraries in 2018! Our seven branches offer a wide variety of programs aimed at every age and interest.

Sensory Storytimes are interactive storytimes designed for differently-abled children who might have difficulty sitting through traditional storytime. This inclusive program features 30 minutes of interactive storytelling and 30 minutes of monitored social play, including toys aimed at improving fine and gross motor skills while also offering children a chance to explore their library and make new friends. Registration is limited to 10 families at a time, fidget toys and weighted pads are available, and children are encouraged to bring a comfort item. Beginning this January, Sensory Storyimes are now offered at our Doylestown, Langhorne, Levittown, Quakertown and Yardley Branches.

Kids 5-14 are invited to join the new and improved Badge Squad! This year-round program promotes reading for enjoyment while also challenging participants to earn more than 50 badges that encourage them to explore their environment, engage with their communities and learn something new. In addition to tasks they can complete on their own, BCFL offers participants a wide range of Badge Squad programs to help kids earn new badges!

"Give us your broken, your error-messaging and your malfunctioning devices yearning to work properly..." OK, that might not be the actual quote, but our skilled technicians are here to assist you. Bring in your devices and your questions, and we will solve your toughest problems -- for free! We support laptops, PCs, tablets, phones, music players and nearly anything else with a power button.

The new year brings a host of new, innovative programs and resources -- in January alone you can watch movies, read to the dogs, practice Chair Yoga, "Tap Into Tech," "Launch Into Coding," play in your pajamas and so much more! (Note that some programs require pre-registration.)
