January 2024

2024 Begins with Trainings and Planning

Isaiah 40:31 - But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. Thandy shares, "This was our opening scripture for all our Reach4Life teams across Africa. In 2023 we were able to reach just over 500,000 kids! We are grateful to the Lord for the opportunities to share the gospel of Christ. All teams were encouraged to press on with the Great Commission in 2024." Pictured above is Team Tshwane University (Pretoria), trained and ready to start their groups at the campus. There is an amazing movement of Christian university students who are boldly sharing their faith in Christ.

Donate Page is Working Again; Change in Payment Processing

We advised recently that the payment processor we were using had stopped their gateway service, which meant our donate button wasn't working. (A gateway takes you to a donation page, which then goes to a payment processor.) After much research, we are now using another processor (Subsplash). It is also used by some of our supporting churches and a few ministries we know, and they are happy with their service.

To make an online donation, just click on our donate page. Choose whether it is one-time or recurring, and which fund you want to donate to (Reach4Life, Bibles, etc.) from the drop-down box. Enter the amount and continue on to the payment details. The screens are simpler and more user-friendly. Try it out! Also, we will be contacting those of you who are already monthly donors. Once you sign up in the new system, we'll suspend you from the old system, until everyone is transferred over. We appreciate your working with us during this change. With the program growing so much, we don't want to lose any support during the transition process. If you have any questions, please email us. Thanks for your support!

Change in "From" Email Address

You may have noticed the recent trend of emails coming from a personal name instead of a company email (i.e., [email protected]). We thought that seemed a bit pompous but now we know why that is happening. Email service providers such as ours (Constant Contact) are requiring it to reduce spam and tighten security. To comply, our emails will now be coming from [email protected]. We can also still receive emails at [email protected].

Renounced Ancestor Worship to Follow Christ Alone

Two years ago, Peer Educators from a nearby village started R4L groups in this church in Ezinketheni. Now four local Zionist churches (mix of Christianity and ancestor worship) have renounced worshiping the dead and are committed to following Christ alone. Above, they received training to evangelize and disciple others in their community. (See article below.)

"My Heart was Torn into Pieces"

Senior Pastor Smith (with his wife, above), says, “First time I came across the Reach4Life Program the facilitator was sharing on Romans 10 v 14: ‘How then shall they call on the one they have not believed in? and how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?’ My heart was torn into pieces that day. I started following the program and learning more about Christ. Though I was a Christian and Pastor, but my Zionist way of faith was not the one these people were teaching and I knew I was wrongly informed. Today I have gathered other churches so that we are brought into more light and we will go to more other Zion churches and tell them about the true Jesus who alone is enough and worthy to be worshipped. The program also equips us with other reading material which helps us to grow. We appreciate the resources that have been given to us, this book is going to help me understand how to build a healthy church.”

Teams Plan and Pray for 2024

Thandy shares, "The new school year has started at full speed on this side of the world. Hundreds of young people need training to carry out the program in their communities. More and more teachers, nurses, police, social workers, and others want to do the program as they believe it is impacting young people in a great way. We could never do what we do without our friends in America who are part of the Prevention Time family. For all your prayers and support we bless the Lord for you all. We are excited about 2024!" Each team had a day of planning and prayer as they decided which schools, prisons, churches, and other platforms they will be working in. Pictured above is the Swaziland team.

Rollouts!

January is a big month for rollouts as the new school year begins. Representing the rollouts this month is this church group in Chimoio township in Mozambique. Bibles distributed in January include:

9753 in schools

742 in prisons

522 in rehabs

"I am Sold Out for this Program"

At left, Pastor Ntombela (who also is a policeman), shares, “This Program is a must for every school, church and community. As a policeman I see shocking things happening in our communities. Drugs have taken over our villages and cities, prisons are full of criminals who are drug inspired as they perform horrible Crimes. This Program addresses root issues that are not easy to address. This book is loaded with lessons that bring hope and healing to many young lives. I am sold out for this program, I will be implementing it our church, schools I work with and the prisons I serve. This program must reach every country in Africa, the good news of Christ is presented in a very relevant way. We appreciate it being launched in our community.”

"Rape in our Community is a Daily Evil Occurrence"

Lungilee Jaba, newly trained Peer Educator, reports, "I prayed to God during December holidays, that I needed to do something in my village, as I saw many young girls falling pregnant and dropping out of school. Rape in our community is a daily evil occurrence. I heard about the R4L program coming to do a training. I took a 3 hours bus to get here. It was worth it!! I am trained and equipped. I have been given books to get started in 3 schools near my home. But first I will recruit and train other Christian youth to stand up and do something. What a great training, the manual and the training team just made us all to want to run like crazy for Jesus!”

Jimmy Mac's Breakfast, Saturday, March 2!

Once again, we will be hosting a breakfast at Jimmy Mac's in Federal Way to raise funds for Peer Educators who will be going to the 2023 conference. This is always a fun event so please plan to join us for a yummy breakfast of pancakes, sausage/bacon, eggs, and coffee/orange juice. Half of the price of the $10 breakfast is donated back to Prevention Time. This will take place at the Jimmy Mac's near Costco, at 34902 Pacific Highway S. Federal Way. Come anytime between 8 and 9:00 a.m. (We just need to be out of the restaurant by 10:00 a.m.) Please invite your family and friends!

"We Must Push Back These Dark Forces"

School teacher Zinhle Langa shares, “Coming to the workshop, I was not sure what to expect, but I loved the idea of teaching godly life-skills to the youth through this program. I am blown away about the information we got here, our youth are truly in serious trouble. We as the church must push back these dark forces trying to steal our youth, drugs, porn, gangs, etc. I am grateful for the Bibles that have been allocated to my school. I love the Book I received as a tool to help me grow as I share the gospel with kids in my school. Browsing through it, already I am looking forward to being transformed.”

This newly trained Peer Educator is full of confidence!

"Thank you for These Powerful Tools"

Pastor Jacky Nhlapo, R4L Senior Facilitator and Johannesburg Coordinator, says, "Thank you so much to our Kingdom friends Prevention Time, who were able to get donations of these powerful tools for us. [This book is Nine Marks of a Healthy Church by Mark Dever, donated by Crossway and taken with us on the 2023 mission trip.] This book has opened my eyes and brought me to a clear understanding about what is a Church. As a young church we are influenced by all kinds of televangelist, here in South Africa the fake miracles and wonders have caused chaos in the church. Most of our church leaders no longer know what is truth and what is not. But this book brings us all to the right mindset of what is the church of Jesus Christ. Thank you for this valuable gift. As I train Pastors who participate in the Reach4Life program I share also from this book and I have seen a great change in our local churches.”
