Estate Tax Updates
Happy New Year!

With each new year comes adjustments to the existing estate tax exemptions that all practitioners and clients alike should be aware of. As inflation skyrocketed during 2022, the adjustments to the estate tax exemptions for the year 2023 have increased accordingly.

In addition to the changes for the Federal and New York State estate tax exemptions, the annual Federal gift tax exclusion has also increased. The annual exclusion is an amount that an individual can gift to a recipient Federal estate and gift tax-free, each year.
January 2023
January is National Blood Donor Month
Due to increased seasonal illnesses during the winter months and inclement weather conditions, donations of blood and platelets decline, and demand increases.

Here are some of the biggest reasons giving blood is so important:

  • The most requested blood type by hospitals is type O. This kind of blood can be transfused to patients of all blood types, so it’s always in great demand and very short supply. Only 7% of people in the U.S. have type O.
  • 38% of our population is eligible to donate, but less than 10% actually do.
  • A single-car accident victim may need up to 100 pints of blood to survive.

Contact the New York Blood Center or your local blood bank for more information.

Use #NationalBloodDonorMonth and #GiveBlood to share on social media.
