We're taking steps to make access a little easier. Read on for the details!
October 8, 2020
As the State enters it's next reopening phase, the Mansfield Community Center and Parks and Recreation Department continues to follow the recommendations of our State and Local Health Departments and the CDC to keep you and your loved ones safe. We are glad to announce some updates beginning October 15th, including removal of Fitness Center and Track reservations and facility entry health screenings. Reservations for Fitness Class drop-in will still apply. Continue to check our website and watch for e-mail updates. Additional details on policies, procedures, and modifications to programs, activities, and Center access will be released as needed through e-mails and website postings. Thank you for taking the time to review this information carefully.

Beginning Thursday, October 15th, Sign-Ups will no longer be required for access to the Fitness Center or Track.

This includes the Fitness Center area on the second floor, the track, and fitness equipment currently located in the sitting room. As always, you must sign-up for cardio machine use upon arrival.
All other area sign-ups still apply.
Fitness class drop-ins will still require advance reservation, as will access to the pools, and gymnasium.

A few points to note for the Fitness Center/Track/Fitness Equipment access:

Cleaning closures are still in play:
While access to the Fitness Center will be less restrictive, all Fitness area access (including fitness equipment in the Sitting Room) will be CLOSED for deep cleaning and disinfecting twice daily, during the following times:
  • Monday-Friday: 7:45-8:30 a.m. and 12:45-1:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 8:45-9:30 a.m. and 1:45-2:30 p.m.
  • Sundays: 9:15-10:00 a.m. and 2:15-3:00 p.m.
Please plan your workout accordingly. Continuous cleaning by area staff will continue to occur throughout the day in addition to the cleaning closure times.

Fitness Center Capacities:
Please note that Center capacities still apply, and will be monitored on a regular basis throughout the day. We have yet to reach capacity for the Fitness Center, however, if we do, patrons will be asked to wait until another member has completed their workout before accessing the Fitness Center amenities.

What if I already have sign-ups past the 15th or later?
The Fitness Center sign-up will be closed for dates starting the 15th. We appreciate you taking the time to follow the former procedures - now please enjoy the more relaxed access!

Watch for expanded fitness equipment options!
We are working on plans to add additional equipment stations, please check with fitness staff for locations, sign ups and policies.
When the facility reopened in June, the Mansfield Community Center implemented a health screening process for facility access in an effort to go above and beyond standards implemented by the State (see the Sector Rules here). As Connecticut progresses into it's next reopening phase, we see schools returning to more days in person, and other less restrictive standards. After careful consideration and review with our local health officials, the health screening measure will be discontinued as of October 15th.
Please Continue to Self-Screen Before You Come!

  • We cannot tell you how much we appreciate the caution all of our members and staff have been exercising. While many of you know the questions by heart, here is a reminder for self-screening at home:
  • Have you been in close contact with confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
  • Are you experiencing a new cough, new shortness of breath, or new sore throat?
  • Have you had a fever of 100.4F or greater in the last 48 hours?
  • Take your temperature - if it is 100.4 or higher, please don’t come in.
  • Remember - an answer of "YES" to any of these means you need to stay home.

Still not sure what "close contact" is?
"Close contact" is defined by the health district as having spent 15 minutes or more with-in 6 feet a COVID-positive person.

With the social distancing measures in place in our facility, there should be no point where our members meet this definition. Please mind the social distancing markers, and other signs and reminders to keep yourself and others as safe as possible.

The above stated policy is subject to change at any time with updated public health data and guidance from public health officials.
Reminders of general facility-wide procedures:
MASKS or cloth face coverings that completely cover the nose and mouth are required except on designated cardio equipment, in the pools, and during open-gym and fitness classes (when 12 ft. spacing is maintained). Any movement around the facility requires wearing a mask.

SOCIAL DISTANCING is required of facility users. Follow signage for traffic patterns throughout the facility.
WAIVER AND RELEASE All members wishing to participate in Community Center activities must sign the waiver and release found here.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING is increased and intensified throughout the facility. Employees will clean all equipment frequently and members must wipe down equipment before and after each use with provided products and materials that meet EPA and CDC guidelines for use against COVID-19. Each area will be closed twice daily for full area deep cleaning and disinfecting. A third deep cleaning and disinfection will occur in the evening when the facility is closed to the public.

WATER FOUNTAINS are closed. Please bring your own water bottle. Water bottle refill stations may be used for refill of personal water bottles only.
