Changes to COVID-19 Health Plan Benefits

HMAA members will not be responsible for copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles related to COVID-19 vaccines or medically necessary testing and treatment until the Public Health Emergency ends on May 11, 2023.

Changes effective May 12, 2023 to HMAA’s COVID-19 health plan benefits are as follows.



  • Medically necessary diagnostic testing approved under applicable law or developed, authorized, and deemed appropriate by the Department of Health and Human Services will be covered based on regular plan benefits. 


  • Tests which are not FDA-approved, and at-home over-the-counter (OTC) COVID tests, will no longer be covered.


  • Medically necessary treatment will be covered based on regular plan benefits.



  • Preventive services such as vaccines recommended by the USPSTF or Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the CDC will be covered at 100% when rendered by in-network participating providers. Other preventive treatment will be covered in accordance with regular plan benefits.

 

For our other clients, coverage is based on the Plan’s inforce Description of Coverage or Summary Plan Description.
