About JHSC Certification Part 1 eLearning

This 2-day program covers the first part of the training required for employees to become members of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). The eLearning program makes it possible for workers to complete Part 1 training remotely, at their own pace in 35% less time than classroom training or distance learning. When combined with JHSC Certification Part 2, this CPO-approved program leads to full certification under Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development guidelines.

Designed with the learner at its core, the program provides a positive, immersive experience that reflects the very best in instructional design and technology. On top of delivering the foundational health and safety knowledge, the program engages a diverse set of learners through knowledge application activities, videos and interactions with experts.

Participants will learn about:
  • Relevant occupational health and safety legislation
  • Legal rights and responsibilities as a JHSC member
  • Common workplace hazards and key steps to addressing them
  • How to recognize workplace hazards and evaluate the risk of incidents, injuries and illnesses
  • How to conduct workplace inspections and incident investigations, and respond to employee health and safety concerns and suggestions
  • How to maintain and monitor records
