Changes to Ontario Residential Premiums & Examining Counsel Fees

We would like to inform you about two important changes to our premium structure for Ontario residential title insurance policies ordered on or after February 3, 2025.

Residential Premiums

To better reflect current market conditions and risks associated with residential transactions, a nominal increase will be applied to our base title insurance premiums. Specifically, there will be an increase of $25 for resale and new home purchases, $10 for condo purchases, and $10 for refinances.*

These changes were made after careful consideration and are our first cost-related adjustments to base premiums in over a decade. Our premiums remain competitive, and your transactions continue to be backed by our industry-leading coverage, underwriting expertise, and outstanding claims paying record.

Please note that a $25 premium reduction will continue to apply on orders where a Treefort Identity Verification has been completed for each purchaser or borrower in the transaction.

Examining Counsel (EC) Fees

We are pleased to announce that we will be raising the EC fees paid to our EC Members. This will include an additional $25 for resale and new home purchases, $10 for condo purchases, and $10 for refinances.*
