Dear residents,
Our pool reservation system has updated starting next week, and there are a few changes that may affect previously-made reservations, and will also make reservations easier moving ahead.

NEW SCHEDULE
The primary reason for the changes is because of the new pool schedule, which will expand the open hours at the pool, starting next Monday July 27 through the rest of the summer.

The new pool hours will be 8:30 - 9:00 pm seven days a week.

In order to accommodate the new schedule, new schedules were created starting Monday. If you made a reservation for this upcoming week, it has been cancelled. I apologize for the inconvenience, but you will need to re-book your time slot.

LAP LANES
The lap lanes have been in high demand, and as a way to be responsive to that demand, we have opened up additional lap lanes. The lap lane schedule will be as follows:

8:30 - 11:30 am, six lanes will be available
Please note that on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays there are only two lap lanes between 10:30 - 11:30 while water aerobics takes place. There are 0 sign-up slots for those times, and they will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you wish to do lap swimming at that time, you must sign up for free swimming, and use an empty lane if one is available.

11:45 am - 4:30 pm, 3 lap lanes will be available

4:45 - 9:00 pm 6 lap, lanes will be available

Please note that the swim rules for this summer allow a maximum of 3 lap swimming lessons per week, per resident. Unfortunately our system does not have the capability to track that, so residents are on the "honor system, in the sense that the only limitation that we are able to put in the system is to do one reservation per resident per day. Please be mindful of your neighbors, and adhere to the 3 slots per week limitation.

SWIMMING LESSONS
At the Wednesday July 22 Council meeting, the Council approved an amendment to the summer rules, to allow swim lessons to be taught at the pool for the remainder of the summer. However, there are still some necessary restrictions for the health and safety of everyone using the pool. The Swim Lesson rules are as follows:
  • Lessons must be taught from the deck (i.e. no in water lessons).
  • Instructor must be properly wearing a face covering at all times.
  • Lessons can only be taught by Somerset residents and/or swim team coaches.
  • Swim lessons are only allowed to occur during times when there are six lap lanes available (see above schedule).
  • The resident must reserve a lap lane for the child receiving swim lessons, and also make a general Town Pool reservation to account for the instructor.
  • Only one per time slot.
  • When possible, swim lessons must be conducted in the far lap lane

MAKING RESERVATIONS (GENERAL)
Several residents have asked for help making reservations. As a reminder, instructions are as follows:
Under the heading membership you will see manage account , and under that, manage reservations . Click on Manage Reservations. Find and select the time slot you would like to reserve. Please note that Lap Lane Swimming and Free Swimming are listed as separate "facilities", so residents must select the appropriate reservation.

CANCELLING RESERVATIONS
While residents have taken to posting on various listservs if they are no longer able to use their reservation, there is a way to cancel reservations, and residents should please follow these steps to do so:
Under the Membership tab, select Manage Account. From there, select My Reservations. A list of all your reservations pop up, and you have the option to cancel (in red).

Doing this will be a great help to the pool staff as they track who is coming into the pool, and who has reserved what, avoiding any conflicts and misunderstanding.

BEING RESPECTFUL OF POOL STAFF
I completely understand the frustration of showing up at the pool and being told that your reservation did not go through - especially because we have had to change course mid-stream; however, please at all times listen to, and be understanding and respectful of the pool staff, who are doing their best to maintain the safety of those who use the pool, and to administer the rules as fairly as possible.

EDITING MEMBERSHIP DETAILS
I have worked with Member Splash to now enable residents to edit their information, including usernames, birthdates, and email addresses. To edit any of these details, just go to Mange Account, and click on the pencil icon.

Mother Nature was kind to use today and decided to postpone the expected thunderstorms, so please enjoy the sunshine!
