Dear District 86 Families,

I am pleased and proud to announce that Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South will be serving as COVID-19 vaccination sites for our employees and vendors, the employees from our feeder districts and the La Grange Area Department of Special Education (LADSE), and the village employees from Hinsdale, Darien, Willowbrook, Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook and Burr Ridge. I am also excited to share that, through a partnership we formed with Osco, we have received a delivery of 1,800 vaccines and can administer the first dose to employees from our district, our feeder districts and LADSE starting next week (Feb. 4, 5 and 6).

In order to accommodate the vaccination process and ensure that the students in our hybrid model continue to receive the maximum amount of time available for in-person instruction, we are revising our schedule for the weeks of Feb. 1 and March 1 as follows.

  • We are swapping the Wednesday and Friday schedules both weeks.

  • On Feb. 3 and March 3, students in Learning Cohort B will be on campus for in-person instruction for the classes they take during early bird and periods 4/5/6, 6/7/8, nine and 10. They will also eat lunch at school on these days.

  • On Feb. 5 and March 5, all students will learn from home. Teachers will let students know if their classes will be synchronous or asynchronous on these days. This decision will be based upon issues such as the teacher’s vaccination schedule.

  • The schedules for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will remain the same.

Below is the updated schedule for these two weeks.

I want to thank Osco for assisting us with this important endeavor, and our feeder schools and administrative teams from Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South for their help in managing the logistics associated with the vaccination process. I also want to thank all of you for your continued support of our students, staff and schools during this challenging time.

Sincerely

Tammy Prentiss
Superintendent
