African American Young Ladies Summit Program
Young Ladies Change Their World
At our October and December Events our young ladies were asked one question: What is going on in your school/community that you would like to change. They did the work of identifying things then, they shared a lot of things that made us sad and angry.
Then we said, now pick one or two things that you will do to change it. Our young ladies showed up in amazing ways sharing their plans. Now they are doing the work to change their schools/communities.

Issues to Action
The young ladies at Bear Valley with support of their Restorative Justice Coordinators and Dean are changing their world. They have started a Black Student Alliance and had their first Black History Family Potluck. They invited me (Dr. Plashan McCune) to attend and it was a love fest. The wanted to make sure that the whole Black Community felt welcomed, it was important to them to include the young brothers as well. We are so proud of the work they are doing and we look forward to hearing great things from them now and in their high school future. Kennedy High School get ready for these amazing young leaders. They will need you to encourage and support them as they continue to change the world around them.

After having such and amazing time at camp and seeing the power of teaching and supporting our young ladies to lead change, we want to hold a leadership conference February 2021. We already have young ladies attending from Uganda and were asked to include young ladies from Nigeria as well.
