Why did you choose a career in the financial services industry? How did you get started?
After briefly majoring in Electrical Engineering, I quickly realized that I wanted a career that was more client focused. I completed my bachelor's degree in business administration and finance and began my journey in financial services in a role that perfectly blended trading and technology. I managed the technology teams supporting the Fixed Income and FX trading desks at Merril Lynch, and eventually Equity trading desks at Credit Suisse and ITG. This gave me a deep understanding of how markets and systems operate.
It was during this time that I discovered how much I enjoy working with clients and thrive under pressure—using creative problem-solving to deliver optimal solutions. As my career progressed, I transitioned into roles focused on sales and business development, always striving to make markets more transparent and efficient.
This led me to my current role of Business Development at Liquidnet, where I manage clients that I have created trust and rapport with over decades. It’s an exciting time to be in my current role with Liquidnet, particularly being in a hyper growth phase; expanding from Equities into Derivatives and multi-asset, giving me the opportunity to not only grow the success of my current clients, but bridge a gap for the multi-asset community. To this day, I keep a close connection to the relationships I have, and evolving technology allows me to better understand my clients’ needs and ensure their continued success.
How has the industry changed over the course of your career?
When I first started on the trading desk, much of the trading and analytics process was still highly manual. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside talented teams to help build and evolve electronic trading systems that made equity trading more automated, efficient, and transparent. Later in my career, I enjoyed collaborating on the integration of machine learning algorithms into trading and analytics processes—a major leap forward for the industry.
Another profound change has been the growing representation of women. Early in my career, I was often one of the few women in the room. I made it a personal mission to advocate for the advancement and empowerment of women in finance. I’m proud to see more influential female voices thriving on both the buy side and sell side—leading innovation and shaping the future of our industry. Today, Liquidnet allows me flourish by working with an all-star, predominantly female team, as well as the innovative products we build for our clients.
What are you most proud of in your career and why?
What I’m most proud of is the authenticity I’ve maintained and the long-term relationships I’ve built throughout my career. I’ve always placed my clients’ best interests at the center of everything I do. Over the years, I’ve built a trusted network of partners and friends—relationships grounded in respect, integrity, and collaboration.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see that, over 25 years later, many of those same clients I once supported are now running trading desks or companies themselves. The trust, camaraderie, and shared success we’ve developed over time stand as the most meaningful achievements of my professional journey.
What are your hopes for the future of the industry?
As my daughters grow up and explore their own paths in finance, I hope they bring the same authenticity and empathy to their work. My wish is that they can focus fully on building successful, fulfilling careers—without having to fight for opportunities and recognition that women before them worked so hard to secure. I’m hopeful that the next generation will continue to make the industry more inclusive, balanced, and forward-thinking. In the age of AI – they need to evolve and leverage technology to succeed.
Do you have any words of wisdom for the next generation of women in finance?
Throughout my career, I’ve spent my free time volunteering with organizations that support women and girls in education, finance, and leadership. I deeply admire the authenticity and confidence that Gen Z is bringing to the workplace—it’s refreshing and inspiring. WIF launched a wonderful mentorship program this year, which I am honored to be a part of. I look forward to the opportunity to elevate from within our community.
My advice is simple: be your authentic self, work hard, and surround yourself with mentors and peers who lift you up. Build your network intentionally, and as you rise, bring others along with you. Helping others succeed doesn’t detract from your own accomplishments, it amplifies them and strengthens the community around you.
