Note from The Principal

Greetings Eagles!
Happy New Year!! We finished the semester with a bang! Our scholars worked hard to put on a wonderful Christmas program, and they succeeded in their efforts. If you missed the District's production of Annie Jr you missed another wonderful show. This semester scholars will be focusing on spring recitals.
Now that school is in session it is important to bring your scholar to school every day and on time. This is the best way to ensure your scholar makes the necessary academic progress each year. We will continue our incentive program for perfect attendance and all A honor roll this semester.
Studies show that the more parents are engaged in their child's school, the better their grades will be. At RSPA we have lots of opportunities to volunteer. One major way you can get involved is by joining our Channelview Parent Organization. We hope to see you at the next meeting!

This month's character traits are Responsibility and Perseverance. Responsibility is defined as the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization. Some examples of what responsibility looks like in children is:
  • Completing homework without reminder
  • Doing chores on a consistent basis
  •  Acknowledging for their mistakes and attempting to make things right
The ability to take responsibility for ones actions is a character trait that is needed to be a great leader.
Perseverance is doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Often times success takes talent in addition to hours of practice and/or studying. Instilling this value in our children can assist them for years to come. Some ways to cultivate perseverance is to:
  •  Allow them the opportunity to be challenged
  • Try starting with an area of high interest for your child to ensure they want to focus on the difficult task
  • Be kind with them when they struggle with things. This will help build the confidence to continue.
Praise their effort, their perseverance instead of achievements.
