Cookies for the Kairos Ministry

Being Collected: Sunday, September 27

Help support the Kairos Prison Ministry by baking cookies for their upcoming ministry to those who are incarcerated. Homemade cookies are a simple but meaningful way to share Christ’s love and encouragement. Cookies will be collected Sunday, September 27, before and after both services. Thank you for helping make this ministry possible through your generosity and baking!

Book Discussion Group

Bring your beloved pets to our Outdoor Chapel on Sunday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m. for our annual Pet Blessing! We hope to see you and your furry, feathered, or scaly friends there!

Sacred Ground at ESC

Sunday Evenings via Zoom | Starting Oct. 4

Sacred Ground is coming to Eastern Shore Chapel! This series, developed by the Episcopal Church, is a combination of videos and assigned readings each week that deal with racial relations. Many who have participated have said that it can be a life changing experience, with comments like “I never knew that” or “I was never taught that”. This timely series is spirit-filled with informative film and reading-based dialogue focusing on race and grounded in faith.

Meetings (eleven sessions total) will be held every Sunday starting October 4 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM via Zoom. If you are interested in participating in this program, contact The Rev. Carter Sinclair at 757-376-8984 or sinclair.carter@gmail.com. For more information on Sacred Ground go to: https://episcopalchurch.org/sacred-ground/about.

Dusk til Dark: 4th Annual Cemetery Tour

Saturday, October 17 | 4-6 p.m.

Step back in time at our 4th annual, family-friendly (and definitely not scary!) tour of Eastern Shore Chapel’s historic cemetery. Enjoy a walking tour featuring lively, costumed interpreters who bring to life the stories of fascinating people from three centuries of Virginia Beach history.

Newcomers Luncheon

Sunday, October 18 | Following our 10:30 a.m. service

If you’re new to Eastern Shore Chapel or looking for ways to get more involved, join us for our Newcomers Lunch. This is a great chance to meet others, learn more about our church, and hear from Father Shawn as he shares an overview of our ministries and opportunities. Childcare will be provided, with children’s activities planned as well. To RSVP or ask questions, please contact Priscilla Jaffee at (757) 439-8766. We look forward to welcoming you!

Outreach to Military Families - Chanco reports for duty!

As home to one of the nation’s largest military communities, Chanco is creating pathways for Summer Camp to reach military families & is seeking relationships, referrals, social-media groups, family-readiness networks, bases, and other channels where military families gather. If you are willing to help Chanco in this initiative, please contact Dave Belote by email dave.belote@gmail.com or text 703.822.1865. And remember, Chanco proudly offers a 10% discount to immediate family members of active-duty military & Coast Guard.

Flower Power

Want to brighten someone's day?

Each week, our Sunday altar flowers are rearranged into several vases to bring cheer to those who need it. I am looking for a few people to help deliver these flowers once or twice a month.

Please contact Rev. Jean at revjeanvinson@easternshorechapel.org to learn more about this ministry.

2 Corinthians 2:15a: For we are to God the fragrance of Christ...

Introducing Faith Play

We’re excited to introduce Faith Play, a new take on our beloved Godly Play program! Through storytelling, music, arts, crafts, and creative activities, children will explore Scripture, discover God’s love, and grow in faith.

Honoring Our Godly Play Storytellers

After many years of faithful service to Godly Play, Susan Flye, Sarah Catherine Kibler, and Jane Brown have retired from this ministry. We are deeply grateful for the love, time, and faith they shared with generations of children, helping them discover Scripture and God’s presence in their lives. We give thanks to God for each of them and their lasting impact.
