Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Join us won’t you for a festive evening in the Mardi Gras theme on February 25, 5:30 to 7:30 PM in the Parish Hall. This is an event for the whole family, young and old, hungry and not-so-much, none will be turned away! It’s free to all – donations are humbly accepted by your hosts for the evening, the Prison Ministry Committee.

We’ll have pancakes (gluten free available), Craig Fenton’s famous blueberry compote, sausage, bacon, grits, and fruit. There will be lots of kid friendly toppings too, like sprinkles, chocolate chips, whipped cream, etc.

It is going to be a joy filled evening in preparation for the season of Lent. It’s your last chance – come join us!
Lenten Creation Care calendar

Lent is a time for prayer, fasting, and more intentional sharing. This year please consider joining our Creation Care Team in heeding the call to be stewards of God’s Creation throughout this season. We hope that this calendar will remind us to be more mindful of the ways that our daily habits impact both our common home and all those with whom we share it. Click here for the Lenten Creation Care 2020 calendar.
Women's Lenten Retreat at Chanco on the James

It has been said that our faith is a single day’s journey from dying to rising. Lent is a natural time to take a moral inventory and to examine this rhythm of darkness and light. Join women from around the Diocese as we move from gravity to grace and explore the “double journey” of light and darkness inherent in a life of faith. Join us for the Women’s Lenten Retreat “Gravity and Grace: Exploring Themes of Darkness and Light in our Lenten Journeys” being held at Chanco on the James, March 6-7.  Visit Chanco's website: website www.chanco.org for more information and for registration.
Adult Forum presentation on ESC's oldest ministry - the Cemetery

On Sunday, February 23 please join us during the Adult Forum for a presentation given by the Cemetery Manager, Mike Brown. He will be discussing one of Eastern Shore Chapel’s OLDEST ministries, our Cemetery - its Past, Present and Future. We promise that you will see pictures you haven’t seen before and you might even discover the EXACT third location of our historic Chapel and Cemetery and where they stood for hundreds of years on the Salisbury Plains.
Join the Ministry of Sound

Ever dreamed of being the person at the soundboard during a recording session? Ever wonder how the sound engineer knows what lever to push and how to capture the best sounds? Here's your chance to find out - and help your parish as well!

We need volunteers to learn our very simple sound system. We need a roster of folks, young, old, and in between, who can take one Sunday a month (or less frequently) to sit behind the sound board that controls the microphones at the pulpit, prayer desk and those worn by the clergy. It doesn't take much attention so that you can still follow the service and participate in a very meaningful way.

If you are willing to enter this exciting ministry, call Bruce Gallup or Steve Shirley (or catch them in church on Sunday morning) and let them know.
Volunteers Needed at the Chapel Pantry!

The Chapel Pantry has added a Saturday distribution shift from 12 to 2 pm each week. We have an abundance of food coming in on Saturdays that would be best given out on the day it arrives. We need volunteers in all areas, from guest intake, to food distribution, to outdoor help driving the golf cart and helping in the fresh produce area. We need six people each Saturday to run the shift and we still have some openings. You do not have to work every Saturday. If you have an interest in helping at the pantry, now is your chance to get involved! Contact Kay O’Reilly at koreilly@easternshorechapel.org or 757-323-7495 for more information. Please note: We have plenty of opportunities to volunteer on other days of the week too!
Altar Guild needs you!

The Altar Guild is a wonderful ministry that helps to prepare for worship services at ESC. Teams serve once every six weeks. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Marty LaGiglia at 757-650-7361.
Thanks for your support of Souper Bowl Sunday

Thanks to all the soup and bread buyers and all those who made soup and bread. The Women of Eastern Shore Chapel made more than $1,800 on our sale on Souper Bowl Sunday! (The figure is not exact because we have a few outstanding IOUs and a few quarts of soup left to sell). If you are wondering where that money goes, check out the notice on the outreach bulletin board to see the ministries that WESC supported from our 2019 fundraisers.
