ESC Delegates take part in virtual Diocesan Annual Council

In a groundbreaking move for the Diocese of Southern Virginia, our 129th annual Council is meeting this week exclusively in a series of online sessions via Zoom. The program is varied, ranging from committee and ministry reports to educational and inspirational presentations. Council convened on Monday evening and meets nightly through this Friday. Saturday’s morning business session will feature electronic voting for offices and agenda items.
In addition to clergy, Eastern Shore Chapel is represented by delegates (L to R) Lynn Lear, Lee Davis, Molly Vaughn, and Dan McCready. Our own Delaney Brown is representing the Diocesan-wide Episcopal Youth Council. Thanks to all delegates!
Food Pantry Parade on March 7

The Pantry Parade is the service project that’s been organized by the confirmation youth. It is being held on March 7 between 2 and 4 PM. If you would like to support the chapel pantry and confirmation group through this event, please drive thru (with a mask) in front of the church and drop off canned goods (breakfast items are encouraged). The goal of our Pantry Parade is to give back and support the ministries in our church that do so much for the community. We would love to see you there and we hope you will consider donating whether it be through the Parade or at another time.

Chapel Pantry Update
By Kay O'Reilly, Chapel Pantry Coordinator
Today, the Pantry took possession of a brand new 16 ft. refrigerated truck as part of the grant the church received from the Foodbank and the Virginia Beach Pandemic Relief Partnership. Valued at $82,000, the truck will allow us to efficiently and safely pick up the rescued food we receive from stores. We will also be able to use just one vehicle instead of two to do our weekly food pickup from the Foodbank. The truck has a lift gate which allows us to pick up and deliver pallets of food without unloading them by hand. This will all be welcome news to our hardworking volunteers!

The truck arrival is also welcome because it will help bring to fruition the next new program for the Chapel Pantry. Beginning on Monday, March 8 from 12 to 2, the Pantry will host a weekly distribution of frozen meals from Mercy Chefs. These individual meals are ready to heat in the microwave and are meant for folks who may have challenges cooking for themselves, whether due to disability, illness, age, or other challenges. Look for more information on this new venture in next week’s Chimes.

The Pantry served 383 families on Saturday and the need is still great. Thank you for all your support!

Parish Day School keeping bodies healthy

Parish Day School students have been learning about activities they can do to keep their bodies healthy. Students in our 3s classes enjoyed creating process art salads. Through this lesson students were learning about healthy fruits and vegetables they can add to their meals. Children were offered carrots and ranch dip for snack. Classes also brainstormed healthy activities such as playing soccer, walking their dog, or going on a nature walk with Mom and Dad. We loved hearing these healthy habits being instilled in our littlest learners.

Parish Day School registration opened on Tuesday, February 23 at 8 AM for our new families. Should you have someone interested in enrolling in preschool, please contact us at [email protected] or call us at 757-491-6130.

Pray for Our Military
From CRU Military Ministry -- PRAISE the Lord for the many new believers as a result of our Centurion’s Military Ministry in Mongolia! Online ministry has proved to be a wonderful way to reach cadets in Mongolia! PRAY for good and fruitful follow-up meetings with the cadets so they will be steadfast in their commitment to follow Christ.
