“New Friends, New Leaders”
Whew! The Season has begun! We have so many activities and opportunities at the Chapel that it’s almost impossible to mention all of them. So, please, take a close look at this and future Chapeline newsletters to become acquainted and involved!
If I may, let’s talk “church” for a moment.
One of the primary goals of the church is to care for people, including those who are inside, as well as those who are on the outside. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to do what we are best at doing. In other words, each church is called to use the gifts, resources, and skills of its people to serve one another and the community beyond.
If a church has builders, then the church should build. If a church has gardeners, then the church should garden. Your Chapel emphasizes what it does best. We have gardeners, so we garden. We have builders, so we build.
The Chapel also has people gifted in retail and management, so we work diligently at our thrift store. We are gifted in hospitality, so we have lots of social gatherings and parties. And we love staying active, so we partner with the Paradise Center to make that happen.
There’s a great lesson in this. All of us are gifted in something. When we combine those gifts within the church, they become greater and more fruitful. However, unless each of us steps forward and takes an interest in something, some of the blessings God is prepared to share through us may never become a reality.
This is why building relationships with each other is so important. It can sometimes feel overwhelming or difficult to become involved, especially if you are new. Friendships help people feel welcome, encourage them to participate, and give them the confidence to volunteer and even lead.
Our community is filled with experienced leaders, and new ones are arriving every day. Take the time to get to know your neighbors at the Chapel. You might make a new friend. You might help someone discover a gift they never realized they had. You might even help the Chapel find its next ministry or activity leader. Perhaps you'll accomplish all three!
After all, today's new friend might just be tomorrow's new leader.
